Good to ride in a big group first time in years on road.
Shame I had to split at RP gates cos of prior commitments.
Again amazed at how small the world of the internet is by meeting Jol and realizing we've know each other for a good few years, n bumping into mouse who is an aquaintance from old due to a misspent youth of underage drinking n skating.

@hippy - that was me with you and tommy right at the end.
@tommy - the bus ID was EVL47, just in case it's worth making a complaint. aside from the minor blip of a mad bus driver trying to run us off the road, twice, then stopping and getting out to fight as we just rode away, it was a brilliant night.
and @willksi - i got splashed with some beer, but it was the guy behind me who got the full pint.richmond park was amazing, thanks to all who made it out, it was great to finally meet some people.
my name's philip, i had the purple and blue (taped up) KHS with the curvy seat tube. hope to see everyone again soon on another ride. -

I made it back into town with a few people at around 2am ish. Was very funny seeing all those pissed up people dancing through 'walkabouts' windows!Kind of pleased we didn't go in! ;-)

Great ride as usual.
Nice meeting new people.
Hael hoped you made it home o.k with your dodgy knee!

phil hippy
i lent you the 5 mm allen key.
also on the wagon (in training).phil that's right!
"What's your name?"
"Phil"
"What do you post under?"
"Er, Phil":-)
Thanks man.. for some reason I tool all my tools out of my bag.
Would've been un-fun riding the rest of the night with a slack chain!flip: Nice to meet you. Did you and tommy hassle a poor, innocent, defenseless bus driver on your ride home? Shame on you! ;)
JOL: Honorary Melbournian. Good stuff not ending up deer fodder on the brakeless Harry.
I got to bed at 2am and did get up at 6am for the Harp Hilly.. that in itself is another tale. For now just know that I hurt.. lots. Savour it. :)

i think i was the lucky one behind who got covered in beer not the highlight but after hitting some roads i forgot about it :) nice to meet you all and i cant see critical mass comparing to that in future -
• #336
Ratboy ....and i cant see critical mass comparing to that in future
Exactly! last night was what CM should be like but never is.

• #337
so.. a bus driver tried to kill people and some cunt threw beer?
and no beat downs were issued?
-
• #338
i rekon we could have done with more corking at some of the junctions, but yeah it was a real nice ride, and i liked the pace we had for most of it.
-
• #339
RPM so.. a bus driver tried to kill people and some cunt threw beer?
and no beat downs were issued? We were gonna come visit you.. you were this '' close to a rude wakeup.. I had your tug.
Get any training done?
-
• #340
yeah, got some mileage today..about 40 odd in the end I think
not much but a lot for me considering the amount of riding I haven't done!
I'll get the tug off you soon, might come to the NORTH west pub thing...
-
• #341
West infers north coz none of us would ever dare venture south eewww ;)
40mi is nothing to be sneezed at. All around RP?
-
• #342
sorry, I just pedometered it. 31.15
sad.to RP, round twice, back hime then off to a mates and back again.
some hillage too
long way to go before I'm DD fit....
-
• #343
especially if you keep riding that slowly
-
• #344
yeah, ok, Puffer
-
• #345
(double post insanity)
-
• #346
DD ain't about speed.. it's about continuing on without feeling in your body parts (except the ones that are inflammed and threatening to maim you).
RPM: Most people suggest hitting around 75% of the distance required in training for endurance stuff. So, triple what you're doing now over the next 5 months (easy) and you'll be right DD night!
-
• #347
that's why I'm trying to get used to a steady 16mph kind of thing and long time in the saddle, rather than short, fast hacks
-
• #348
Hippy - yeah, that's what they say for running marathons, too -you shouldn't do the full 2 miles at all in training -the most you should do is around 20, max. leave the full thing for the day.
-
• #349
RPM yeah, ok, Puffer
i'm heavier than you. carrying an extra 2 stone!
-
• #350
make that an extra 4 :-)
+1 to putting more faces to names and seeing new people. All good.
Cheers DB for sorting the route & Johnny for taking the lead in deepest sarf london.
Hippy, hope it went well today. Now go and burn that lycra!
