I have a reba 100mm, it has done 2000 miles without a service, still running perfectly. Whatever you do, don't buy current Fox forks, they are shit.

Sold my Rebas for £80! Eighty Fucking Quid. Great forks, super easy to tune and service.

The Super Fatty DLR80 on my 'dale is better, for sure, but it requires 26" wheels and a stupid cannondale headtube, and servicing it is an absolute mission.

Got black Reba dual airs with a 170mm steerer that is probably only useful with integrated headsets.

As the others have said, can't really beat RockShox these days.

Are you making/building a mountain bike?

I'd look at Manitou, DT Swiss or maybe a Suntour Axon over something Rockshox personally.

I'm really starting to love my Stanton, such a fun bike. Glad I made the return to a hardtail.

I'm just not a Rockshox fan, I've always found them disappointingly mediocre. The Manitou Tower, Suntour Axon Werx and the couple of DT Swiss forks I've tried were all excellent XC forks.

I was looking at replacements for my (not serviced since 08 at least) 06 Pikes and came to the conclusion that suspension is now really really expensive.

Meh. I paid £500 for Fox TALAS R in 2004, with inflation that's like £700 now. Forks seem expensive to me because I'm making less in cash terms then I was in 2004, but that's a separate issue.

True, I may be misremembering but I'm sure that just a few years ago there were a lot more credible options in the sub £300 market which seems to have disappeared. Hoping that my proclivity towards 26" might find me a bargain somewhere.
