I'm up for some offroad action in the new year!

sadface - looks like perhaps new year for me too.
FYI - Weather on Saturday am requires some serious HTFU.
Sunday looks nicer, but it will probably be sloppy (wet wet)
I can possibly make it out Sunday dependant on several variables...

My rigid forks just turned up. The otherparts will be ordered as soon as I find a shop with them in stock or chain reaction reply to my email.
So when are we off roading in 09?

I spoke to Momentum yesterday - 17th Jan was suggested
I could be up for an earlier weekend, but will be relying on your orienteering skills ( I bring boundless enthusiasm and vegan flapjacks to the party.) -

Done and done and done. Reading maps I can do.
I promise to be a lot less hungover this time. -

I'm in! 17th is good. Knobject, want a lift?
-
• #284
Please dude. Got a ride planned that you may be into for January and another one that may involve time off work and you may want gears for (Aprilish).
-
• #285
I want in! Let me know where and when, geared or single speed, full rigid or hardtail!
I need to ride a mountain bike and soon!
MTB FTW!!

Always hardtail.
I'll be either single or geared depending on delivey dates. Gabes will be single (Hopefully).Check the east thread.

@ object - What forks did you get. Just picked up a mid 90's Specialised that is going to be fully rigid, eventually. Just got a Clockwork orahge to finish first.

These:
They're going on my DMR which I'm converting from single speed to geared (x.9 and x.0)
Keeping the heavy wheels (Pro 2 laced to EX721), not the best for XC but totally bombproof. -

Yes Object.
Yes, 'yes' indeed. -
• #294
Prav. You're going to love my take on gears. 18 FTW.
And being my bike it can still do single or fixed with the same wheelset. -
• #295
sweet... weekend 10/11th Jan okay for you?
Ideally early Saturday morning (don't want you to miss poh-Low)

You tart object. What was wrong with the forks that were on the dmr pre rebuild?
I hate this thread, I so want to join you, but i'm such a uselessly disorganised idiot i'll never get my beater fixed up so that my mountain bike can become that rather than a commuter.

They were suspension. I've rode them (Second time I've used suspension forks on that bike) and decided that suspension still isn't for me. And would you expect me to be anything other than a tart?
Just sorted out my shopping backet at CRC and it's quite reasonable to be honest.
I rebuilt the bike with all the intentions but the BMX takes precedent as the fun bike so it makes sense to turn the DMR from the heavy duty jump/street/fuck about bike that it is into a lighter but still strong duty XC/trail blazing ride. That way I'll actually use it rather than just have it sat in the corner of my room gathering dust.
Put your name on the list, swap the bike out to offroad rather than commuter and come ride, we haven't been anywhere offroad with each other for over a year.
I'm just gutted that I didn't see either crash and only got to hear the howls and bangs!
I can't get out this weekend and probably not the next one either so it's probably gonna be January before I'm out again. Picking up my puppy on Jan 10 so maybe the weekend after that on 17th or 18th. I've been thinking about routes and reckon a quicker route up to Leith Hill and then go exploring all those trails which we found on the "deliberate detour" could be a fun route.
