Did some leaf surfing today while scouting where to lay some new trails.

Long shot but does anyone know of any grips where the outer collar of the grips are alloy and cover the end of the bars too? I've got some OEM ones that came on my 2011 Mondraker but can't find decent replacements

Coincidentally I was just looking at grips.
Nukeproof and ODI seem to do some with alloy endcaps.
e.g.

Hopefully readers of this thread can provide opinions on this...I have an old 26", straight steerer Inbred, which I am trying to rejuvenate. I'm not a downhiller at all, mainly roaming xc and trail centres, but Bike Park Wales made me feel a bit too over the front, so would a 2° Slackerizer/Angleset be
a) ideal
b) too much, 1° or 1.5° would be better (but would I notice any difference?)
c) a terrible idea
Thanks for any wisdom or experience of doing similar.

@si_mon628 It's probably not worth it.. difference with angleset will be neglectable compared to what you can achieve with a modern geometry frame..
Are you sure there is an angle set for straight steerer EC headsets? -

That's something new I've learned today.
Wasn't there a thing for offset forks a while ago? Where the axle bolts forward of the fork arms/blades/stanchions? I have zero interest in frame geo so I assume I didn't just make this up.

You’ll probably end up ripping the headtube off the frame tbh.
-
• #22787
Ah, ok.. still not convinced it makes much of a difference.
Would personally rather look for something like an On One 456 or even 456 summer season and swap frames for more trail capability..

Agreed, I think the difference would be marginal. A longer fork might be a better option for altering the angle of the dangle.

I also have a 26 inbred and have wondered about the superstar headset. A 29 wheel on the front is another thing I've pondered. Should probably just buy the Stooge I actually want!

Can't hurt to mullet over.

Right, further reading (of this article to understand headset codes) and searching has suggested that actually the only one available which would fit the straight steerer of my Inbred (EC34-EC34) is indeed the one linked by @Brommers above, but that is out of stock. So this may all be academic. If I ever do it I'll be sure to report back! Shorter stem for now, hopefully that'll help.

Nice

1 degree will be noticeable, but it still won't be anyting near a modern capable geometry.
A longer fork might be a better option for altering the angle of the dangle.
Nah, don't do this 'cos it will also raise the BB and slacken the ST. And stress the headtube welds more

My thinking will start at the front and fail to reach the back.

Yes, you should.
My Stooge scrambler is a lot of fun on the rare occasion I take the Ubahn to the trails in Grunewald. -

Trying this at the weekend- the bike was designed for this configuration originally, according to the designer.
