Bump to see if there's any interest for tomorrow
-
• #1304
hoping my 29er will be ready for tomorrow, had been thinking of starting a last minute off road rides thread but this sounds perfect. should know by midday if the bike will be ready for collection
be warned, am an off road novice, as with all my endeavours i will attempt it with stupid amounts of enthusiasm, energy but no brains or skills

• #1305
And will no doubt spend most of the time calling the trees and rocks cunts...
;)
-
• #1306
Or riding slowly in front of snails
-
• #1307
collarbone, ribs, scaphoid or wrist done within first 5 off-road rides (if on 'proper' trails)
-
• #1308
Sulk imminent as my frame has not yet arrived.

Gary
Care to come along and give me some instruction?
-
• #1310
I'll step in in Gary's absence; James you should have gone for 26's :FACT:
-
• #1311
Why?
-
• #1312
possibly but then i'm not an expert rider distinctly average.
but not if your wear lycra. strictly baggys for MTB's that's how i roll.(or at herne hill when the open cross training sessions are running and if they have enough lumps/twisty stuff)
i think i'm mtb'ing tomorrow but it's with a couple of mates so can't really add a newby without telling them.

Really?

Really?
this is DJ we are talking about. i'm guessing his committed kamikaze attitude will be prevailing.
-
• #1315
Will have Lycra under baggies
Is that acceptable?
Will schedule a session of damaging myself with mrsmyth after my return from the tour de l'ardeche
-
• #1316
baggys over lycra is win.
if i'm not available somebody else will be. i think Rob said there may be instruction available at the cross sessions? or Furious Tim, he's probably faster than me anyway :-)
do you still have your mtb Tim? -

Silly me.

Yeah, still have 2 mtbs but don't get out enough on them, mostly the odd weekend trip to Afan/Dalby. Next one will probably be in Oct.

I lasted 30 minutes before I was on my way to A&E, there's a target to beat.
Also, I'm picking up my mtb next weekend so will be up for rides on and after the weekend beginning the 18th.

Umm, does anyone want to show me round the easier trails on Friday or Saturday this week? My poor mtb has sat in my room untouched for the last 6 months, I've got to make the effort to start using it otherwise I might as well sell it.

if this rain keeps up i would suggest going to swinley as it will drain better or to winterfold and pitch hill (if going to dorking) and avoiding leith hill and the chalk of ranmore.
-
• #1323
don't worry about the trails being hard konijn none of them are tough they're only though if you're riding fast, as MrSmyth states they could be ridden on a cross bike.

Hello all. I'm new to lfgss today, looking out for those who like to get muddy and hoping to tap into knowledge about good riding, especially west and southwest of London.

I've just got a book of North and South Downs routes so I'll probably be out on Sunday trying one out if anyone wants to tag along. I'll post details on Friday evening once I'm sure.
ha, i was going to say BKB would be your best bet, maybe telegraph and the one that runs off from deliverance over near coldharbour. sounds like you know them all anyway, i should come over on my crosscheck
and shuttle runs?? theres a freakin fireroad to pedal back up, thats shameful
i miss living out that way
