  • I think I'm in, regardless of the day, geared hardtail here. I will be driving to Dorking from outside London though.Keep me informed!

  • Go buy a freewheel you numpty!

well i would and all, but i have no braze ons for rear v brake mounts...

  • I might have a Juicy Carbon you could borrow, you haz disc mounts?

Guys I can't do Saturday so i'm planning on being in Dorking on Sunday for about 10/11am, let me know if you intend on going so we don't set off without someone.

  • Henners: If Mick's thing is no good I have a V brake mounting plate which you can borrow

  • Meet at Dorking Station at 10am? I know there is a train that gets in at something like 10.01 from London.

I want to start early as I want to go to my Gran's house in Sidcup in the afternoon.

  • Arse. I'm busy again this weekend, keep on missing these forum outings.

    Next time!!

  • There's a train at 0902 from Waterloo to Dorking, gets there at 0950. Groupsave?

  • I'm coming from Putney, so I'll join it at Clapham. Can we have a list of who is going to be meeting in Dorking at 10am on Sunday, so we have a rough idea how many people to expect (to avoid excessive waiting around).

  • Just the 3 of us then?

  • Just the two of us at the moment.

    Mmmmmmcarty, where you at?

  • he might have ridden down.
PM me for telephone number if needed.

  • Shit dude I checked the thread this morning and assumed no one was going anymore!

  • Whoops, perhaps I should have posted that I was heading off this morning.

Anyway, me and tom. got to Dorking as planned at 10, but unfortunately neither off us knew our way around at all. Various other riders pointed us in roughly the right direction, but we still ended up taking some odd routes; walking up a steep footpath and getting evils from ramblers for instance. Managed to find a few decent runs, but got the impression we missed out on the best bits.

Tom put me to shame on the downhills, I really haven't got the nerve for fast descents. Forgetting my helmet probably didn't help in that regard. In accordance with the tags, I did remember flapjacks however.

We'll have to do it again with a bit more planning, would be good to get a regular offroading day sorted like SSTC or TNRC.

  • Well, I have got twice the travel you have, and discs.

Today definitely gave me a sense that there are some great trails at Box Hill, and it's just a case of learning how they tie together. I'd definitely like to ride there with someone who has some local knowledge.

Looking forward to lots of riding this autumn. If anyone has a car and fancies driving down to Bedgebury, I've got some petrol money burning a hole in my pocket.

  • You guys up for the same next Sunday? I've got a few trail maps of the area which will come in handy im sure.

  • I'm doing the bridges ride next Saturday night, so I won't be up for an early start. Could do it if we started at midday perhaps?

  • No worries, i'll be on that ride too (completely forgot about it to be honest).

I got an awesome little map pack a few months back and i've just picked up some awesome laminated maps from Tommy there so we will be well equipped!

  • Ok, catch up with me at that tonight if you still want to ride tomorrow.

I'll be on a black ridgeback solo

Heading to the C&H now for the bakeoff

  • Cool, i'll be the guy on the beach cruiser, can't really miss it.

  • if you guys need a hand finding some of the single track i can point you in the right direction, most of the stuff i know though is fairly fast DH stuff on Leithhill and around Peaslake

  • "DH"
do i need to bring my full-face lid and body armour?
    is 6inch travel enough?

  • ^^ mate, sarcasm aside i think you will be fine with less than 4. but all i was saying is they are fast and windy with roots and generally point down hill, i didnt mean 'DH' in an 'Xtreme' sense just that they are largely trails people built to ride fast with MTBs but i am sure can be ridden on rigid bikes with enough fun to make people smile.

  • :-)
those trails can be ridden on a cross bike, just depends how fast you want to go
although there has been an increase of people riding downhill bikes and getting shuttle runs to ride the 'barry knows best' trail, which is amusing for all the 'xc'ers'
