I'll look out for your route and maybe tag along on Sunday then. Thanks

Ok, I'll be getting the 1000hrs train from Waterloo to Guildford on Sunday morning. 16 mile ride, extendable to 30 if that seems too easy. Tell me if you're coming so we can do Groupsave if possible. Flapjacks will be provided.

Hmm, I checked that out on National Rail and they're not listing any problems, unless I'm being a drunken idiot.

look at the train operators website.
southwest and southern both run trains on that route. -

Never done it, in london and could be a way for me to decide that I'm going to keep off roading or just flog the mountain bikes if I'm not going to use them.

i was looking at dorking trains earlier and there is engineering on sunday.
maybe it doesn't effect fast trains or there is another route that doesn't go through dorking? -

OK, Saturday the 18th (a week today). Who wants to ride?
Mr K&E?

• #1340
Nope, doing Clacton next Saturday.
I'm not going tomorrow if no-one else is interested, been too busy this week to bother with it solo.

Fork upgrades.
Currently running a 130mm Marzocchi bomber which I'm having a few issues with (old age).
I have deore hubs with 9mm skewers. I want to upgrade the fork with upto 150mm travel.
With all these new axle sizes can I just alter the hub I have or do I need a new one? -
• #1345
is your frame o.k for a 150?
i wouldn't use a qr with a fork that long.
you will need a new hub for 15/20mm axles. -
• #1346
On one Inbred 456, so yes its good for 150. Ok so new hub/wheel build time, I'll factor that into my budget.
Thanks -
• #1347
Most people appear to run 140mm forks, which is enough for what I'll need. Any suggestions?
Budget £400 (forks) I'll sort the hub out next month.

Might be in for some mountain bike action in autumn. Bit of a beginner. Are there any good threads where to start and look at Surrey Hills routes?

rockshox.
last years revelations. dunno if there is a recon or pike model that may suit, as long as it has motion control damping you will be fine (some of the cheaper ones or oem models don't have motion control) there is the new sector model which is a cheaper revelation.
steer clear of the 09/10 marzocchis. reliability problems when production was switched to suntour.
if you can find a cheap one then fox forks are good too. -
• #1350
Good advice going with Rock Shox for the money they can't be beaten, Fox are good but pricey and tend to need servicing more often to pump the price up even further.
I'm picking up my mtb this weekend, need to get the cassette changed then I'm up for some rides.
Anyone free next Saturday/Sunday?
