  • I know, so was I! I think the clue was you asking for pictures of them ;)

@fox - i was joking - i also think macks hub are fantastic value for money and from the pictures i have seen and reviews - great wuality

  • netherless the Miche lowflange are great hubs, the best of all miche hubs frankly.

I don't see the HF's being any different.. at least not with the older Miche-hubs..

I don't know if these are still available.. or of the newer ones are different (other than the new design which I don't like).

I have been running that wheel for at least 10k miles.

I would still like to know what the problem is with them.. :)

  • I don't like miche.
I have a funny thing against Italian bits. No idea why. Racist I guess.

But: The miche high flanges are bollocks, and along with goldtecs the two most commonly broken hub flange - or so I am told. For the money I'd rather have sytemX hubs, which are surprisingly good!

  • Ah, so it's just something in your head? :)

Anyone on here ever actually broke a flange of a Miche Primato?? Google don't give me anything.

  • Hi,

I'm going back to university in Edinburgh and want to get some new wheels because I'd like to keep my track wheelset for smoother roads than Edinburgh cobblestone.

I realise that wheels are strong enough to support a human body so they can probably withstand a slightly rocky road, but I would just feel more comfortable getting a new pair.
I can build my own wheels but am hopeless at deciding what parts to use...

Therefore if anyone has any suggestions and experience of cheap but strong hubs and rims please chip in... I would be super grateful for any help or advice. I guess I'd like to buy myself some deep section rims if there are any cheap ones anyone can suggest....Also I'd like a fixed/freewheel rear hub...over time Edinburgh hills can get so frustrating...

    Tom

  • On-One Large Flange Track Hub 32h Black Rear: £15
On-One Large Flange Track Hub 32h Black Front: £15
Deep section rims are expensive, better off with:
Mavic open sport black: £24.99 (up to 28) or
    Mavic a119: £16.99 (from 28)

  • rigida dp18 used to be about 25 from parkerinternational, they are deep v section.

dpx are a little cheaper and a nicer shape imo, they are a deep box section.

Mavic open sport rims for £18, get these, probably best price you will find on them

  • I used and abused a set of Miche hubs for 8 1/2 years as a courier and only changed the bearings twice. Solid and dependable.

  • miche all the way.

  • anyone know of a low flange flip flop? or perhaps just SS free wheel?

the understated design of the miches would be perfect for what I need, but fixed only it seems.

  • you can put a free wheel on a fixed thread as far as i know, never done in myself though

Novatec does low flange, i don´t know who sells them in the uk though.

  • starfish & coffee the miche hubs will be fine for freewheel, the thread for a fixed cog is the same as that for a freewheel, the smaller lockring thread just doesn't get used.

  • Yes that would do it. Although I prefer freewheels that use the alternate tool for removal as I can never get those ones off with the two pins but that is probably just me!

  • Would like to get some cheap track hubs for a new conversion of mine.
Can anyone recomend some good cheap front+rear track hubs?

  • Formula.

  • Which are the same as formula

  • which are the same as Planet X and Ambrosio

  • And on-one (obviously!)

  • And Condor.
