  • Well I got them..... They are superb and I doubt you can get a better pair of shoes for £50..... 2nd only to sidi diablos.... But they are £200!

Nice one Steads! Have ordered a pair. Well, it's Christmas, and these look the biz for early months CX and MTB for top price!

  • Welcome!
    Gotta pass the bargains around....

Or not apparently. Got a refund notice fron my card yesterday - they've canceled it. Nothing from them though, which is pretty shoddy.

  • thats shit..........I noticed the 45's were sold out the other day but still showing stock of the 44's.....

Its a shame as they are fantastic shoes at any price..........

  • Time to bring this thread back from its summer hibernation.

Shimano MW-80's, £112 in Cycle Surgery.

Anything else I should consider before getting them?

  • Top tip.

If you get something super waterproof. Get some mini gators from any hiking/camping store. Once water gets in, you're fecked.

Try to avoid crashing into a bus and having one cut off by an ambulance crew. They don't withstand that very well. Other than that they're pretty good.

  • So, not paramedic proof, noted.

How about waterproof- fully, or partially?

Did you ever get cold toes?

  • Im currently eyeing up a pair of Shimano's MT90 they have extremely favourable reviews from the polo crew.

  • I got the MW80's at lunch, had to get a 45 which was a surprise, as all my other shoes (including Sidi's) are a 44.

I reckon some inexpensive gaiters over the top, and I should have hopefully have warm dry feet this winter

  • Wore the MW80's in today, confirmed that I got the right size so if you are thinking of buying these online it would be a really good idea to check your size in a shop first.

They are (so far!) extremely comfortable, and there is a surprising amount of "spring" in the sole in comparison to my Sidi Dragon II's.

Much more comfortable to walk in therefore, pushing my Fixie with one hand, coffee in the other, which was is of course the key criteria upon which I judge all cycling equipment.

I'll report back after some properly shitty weather.

I still have a pair of the original ones. I used mine all the time in Scotland and loved them. They look like regular hiking boots too so not quite as 'disco slipper' as some.

Just bear in mind the lack of any kind of cuff around the ankle though, so use a gaitor if you want your feet to be completely dry in heavy rain.

  • I just bought a pair of Rab eVent gaitors to go with my shoes- I am now, hopefully, winter proof

Was about to make this point. The only real weakness (and maybe the rubber is starting to peel away? Not sure yet. And when it does, I'll just glue it back into place).

  • I still ended up having to wear alpaca socks with my MW80s once it got really cold ie below zero, but I do tend to get chilly extremeties; I've already got my winter gloves out for instance.

  • ^^ Might as well think about winter as christmas is already in the supermarkets :/

  • Those who fail to prepare, prepare to fail, etc

  • I purchased a pair of Sidi Hydro GTX's last year. Great shoe but a size too small. I can fit them but only with thin socks, when, ideally, I'd like to wear big thick wooly ones.

Anyone interested in a swap? They're a size 45. Not been worn much, pretty good condition; a few scuffs but nothing serious.

  • Has anyone actually dropped on the Lake MXZ 302's?

  • this year, as with every year, I will be wearing the same Dominators, but with more/thicker socks.

Need to get some oversocks for my ergo sidis though - they're pretty snug even with thin socks

Almost, then I balked at the last moment and got MW80's.

Reason=I could try the Shimano's on.

  • im still kinda tempted, and dont distance selling regulations mean you can always send back/exchange them if they dont fit?

  • If I had the money I would definitely get a pair...alas, I don't. :[
If you want to buy me some Mrlemon I'll happily give you my opinion? ;]
