Last week in Acton Park we were about the last large mammals present

A change of format for this week.
The last Acton Park meet up saw three large mammals assaulted by small, flying, biting insects.
With Sunset now before 20.00, and temperatues still pleasing,
we're aiming to avoid a repetition,
and this week will be meeting at the Express Tavern, Kew Bridge. The Express Tavern took advantage of the Covid Shutdown to (at least) re-paint its facade,
and,
has converted some of its previously awninged back garden into a permanent conservatory.@Sifta has made a 19.30 booking and so far included @NorthLondonLight and @mespilus
on it, so potentially three more places.
Should we exceed the limit of 6 someone will have to make an additional booking.LB Hammersmith & Fulham have yet to complete the roadworks at the junction,
installing some permanent separated cycling infrastructure,
so be careful on your approach.Thursday night is 'Rib Night' at the Express Tavern,
so it isn't the best venue for squeamish vegans and vegetarians.@ffm @hamrack @hippy @Sifta

subbed...
I might be interested as Im close and the route there and back looks nice.
Any worries of cross infection from SE drinks? (which has been dead since forever)

I've not attended a pub since C-19 descended,
so have no experience of the formal booking system
or how strictly it is applied.
I guess I'm aiming to arrive around 19.20,
lock up bike, (if they still have any bike parking),
cool down a bit,
and be ready to enter at 19.30. -
• #26668
Shit! I've lost track of time!
Looks like I'm out. Sorry gents. Today's turned into a crapper.

The Express Tavern has transformed.
The bike parking along the west side entrance has been replaced with numbered long tables and benches. Pre-C19 these would have been 8-person tables.
The three of us maintained an adequate social distancing.
The pub was deserted to the last time we visited,
either December 2019, (possibly with office Xmas drinks),
or early this year with European football on the dropdown screen,
so whilst customers were encouraged to use the app,
walking in and buying drinks with notes was still allowed. The rear garden is now all under cover.
The first section is spacious conservatory with Covid spaces tables.
The rest of the garden is now under awnings,
and there is a new additional 'Garden bar', with several draft beers.LB H&F have almost completed the road works,
and
following the modern trend have stripped away nearly all the street furniture,
so all previous railings no longer there to lock bikes to.
We used the down pipe of the pub, jusy beyond the entrance gate. -

The Express Tavern had draft Wild Weather Damned Dead Cucumber,
a lactose sour beer last night.
Certainly sour, definitely cucumber-flavoured and suitably thirst quenching.
It was a bit chlly on the way home.
I had to stop to put some thin gloves on,
also due to the fact I had swapped the CatEye clamp for my front light over onto my winter beater,
and forgottten I had done,
so had to cycle home holding the CatEye light with my left hand.
A user error I hope not to repeat. -

@NorthLondonLight have done a few socially distanced rides this Summer,
and,
'discovered' The Land of Liberty, Peace & Plenty at Heronsgate,
almost Chorleywood,
just to the northwest of the M25 out by Rickmansworth.Bit of interesting history to the pub and Heronsgate.
Any takers for this coming Thursday?

The Land of Liberty, Peace and Plenty glories in its selection of good ales as well as being the pub with the 2nd longest name in the land.
Unfortunately we aren't going to be able to ride to The Old Cheshire Astley Volunteer Rifleman Corps Inn in Stalybridge, Cheshire any time soon. That you can see is the longest pub name.
I'm certain Pint of Hops will have a few.
