No idea...
Where was you? You'd fit well in that pub, as there were quite few people with lovely hair as well.

Hold tight, Fay Maschler was in attendance.
I've known her daughter for 30 years!

^^^^ yup, I agree with 'Swine. I did have a lovely Spanish Omelette after pointing out that their 'veggie' options weren't actually veggie (more freakin' fish hiding in the sauces). Reps to the chef, not reps to the glossy locked hooray's - I don't think it would be long before we had an argument with them. Wouldn't mind a one off there on a day when the Harley Bikers were there - perhaps en route to the Raven?
Lovely to see Crumb, Radius, Skully, 38x18, esstee, EEI, Ed and the regulars.
Haven't been to the Raven yet, but it sounds like the place for us.
Will they let us have a 'Wests Relaunched' party? ... and will we be able to behave so we're not booted out? I will bake a cake.

nice enough place, just a shame about the Hooray Henry's- I observed two of them poncing about paying £8 on a card, one had cash to start with and was reluctant to give it up, then Henry Hooray Mark 2 was collared for a card, then dither, dither, then looked around waiting for the women to input I assume money, after while the card was very reluctantly handed over to a by then fuming bar man, meanwhile I was waiting to be served..............
We were kicked out of the garden to keep the neighbours happy at some hour, all pleasantly done though.
Was it my imagination, or did the more central location bring in more peeps? That may be a factor in the grand decision on where Westies base is, as well as all the other factors to fit in.
Hmm... totty was nice to observe... yet another factor...
I found The Raven more "homely" but that's just inciting a thread riot to commence...............

Raven is a cracking pub and gets a good turnout most nights, the food has just stepped up under a new chef and looks pretty gastro. beer is fantastic and beer garden is accessed from the road.

The food really is good there. Much better than 'pub grub'. Useful chef.

I rather liked the food at both but was unable to attend the toff-baiting last night. I've eaten at both the Rose and the Raven and was impressed with both. The risotto at the raven was as it should be - smooth and silky in consistency (and also because I find risotto a bit of a challenge to cook at the best of times) and the eggs benedict at the Rose last week made for a rather pleasant lunch.
As L&W said a page or so ago the music spat out by the randomising jukebox at the Rose has all the tracks to keep people from metal fans to McCarthy happy and both senior representatives seemed eager for the business and I reckon there was serious potential for a "(tofu) pie and a pint" type of deal.
I reckon that an evening spent in the company of the Harley boys would be a scream, but I also rather liked the charm of the Raven. Both seem to fit the bill (despite Ed Maschler's apparent thumbs down for the burger) so I guess it's just a matter of who does us the best deal.

I know you'll all disapprove, but The Rocket, A wetherspoon in putney, has everything.
Its got tonnes of outside space, on the river[IMHO the reason Wests was so good in the first place], cheap good food (just had a massive fish and chips and it was better than anything I've had in London so far, the space outside allows for non- pub drinking and eating, its in a nice place, I can't fault it, except for it being a Wetherspoons.....

Nice crowd, didn't eat the food (I had Thank Cod for Ken's Plaice chips from Herne Hill on my way). happy to try and turn up to the Raven sometime - I know where it is for a starter!
Would drink with you again. Four stars.

+1 to what ElDiablo said, the 'eye candy' was awesome, but so wayyy outtamyleague it's not even funny. It was like Made in Chelsea for real.

No, you were out of their league. Don't let class system get in a way of romance. Often they do want to be With common people, common peole like you.

Are you saying that this Wetherspoon have it's own menu? rather than the typical Wetherspoon mircowaved food?

How about we call it West Eats?

@lamouse - the thread is entitled West Beers. In theory this should be a thread about Fullers, but it's not. Years ago I would have have shouted "Eatin's cheatin" when anyone wanted to consume sustenance but now I rather like a bit of grub.
Anyone for a revisit to the Pear Tree to sample their wares?
^Good summary of the evening. The red curry was most tasty but the burger did look quite "lean"
