The skewer and cup have previously interacted well, and not let the wheel slop about.

• #103
does that help?
sorry.

Pics man.

punch self in face.
I thought intervals couldn't get much more painful....
What trainer is it Chalfie? Also what QR skewer?
-

^^ + this.

Elite volare. Standard skewer.but itsnever slipped before.
New skewer probably I got one off BDW and I thought I had it to hand somewhere..
Can't do pics. -

If there's no obvious damage to either trainer or skewer, could it be gradually vibrating loose, or does it happen almost immediately?
Is the skewer closed at a different angle to usual?
It's an odd one. This normally only happens when using funny shaped skewers. Shimano ones tend to fit best. Some trainers come supplied with their own, although they tend to be the basic shimano type.

If it's the skewer slipping out of the cup, the cups cant be tight enough, or are tight and then losen - undo.
Make sure to screw to tighten the cups around the axel ends is not able to come undone. Sounds like what is happening. My qr turbo skewer always comes undone, but because the cups are tight, it has no effect. Slightly more rock, but it will not come out. Because the cups aren't coming undone.

The qr side (left non drive) slips in its cup. I looked at the cup and there's some surface damage. When tightening, it's possible to see the qr bit moving up and then slipping out.
(i am mechanically inept. this should be the caveat throughout this)

@BN: I checked that, still happening. (angle)

You could try a small piece of old inner tube between the skewer & cup. Then tighten it up, rock the bike side to side, then re-tighten.
-
• #113
Ah inner tube. is there anything it can't do? Like bicarbonate of soda, i think it should have a seat on the UN Security Council.
Will try tomorrow. I'm now doing intervals of cauliflower cheese.

Please understand that I won't be held responsible for any resulting death from this experiment.
Or for any cauliflower cheese based obesity either ;-)

Hold air, if the ones on my roller bike are any guide. I've had about half a dozen of them split at the seam in the past year.

Coming back to this.
So, you're saying: "don't bother locking the wheel in place with the qr skewer, let the clamping from the turbo do that"? -
• #117
You can get a copy of the the Cycleops turbo skewer for £7-ish. Beefy metal end caps and knurling for cups to grab on to
-
• #118
That's the one Wayne gave me!
I seem to have mislaid it, and it didn't seem long enough to go through wheel....
BUT!If it just needs to be something to sit in the cups and let the trainer do the tightening. Then we're all ok and I can knock out the session tonight.

'Turbo' training all sounds very '85 doesn't it, like from back when Knight Rider and Airwolf were on telly.
-

^^ That looks like the one that came with my kinetic. It's what I should have posted previously, rather than that ^^^^^^^ plastic ended one.
Definitely recommended.

It's for the mentals.

She's usually asleep when I demonstrate mental tendencies.
Anyway, final race of the season on Sunday so last night's session was the last one for some time.

hi guys, quick question if anyone can help.
got the cycleops fluid2 and haven't used it for a while (no surprise there!) but when i used it the other night the resistance from the turbo felt a lot harder than when i used to use it.
now i pushed the roller onto the wheel and it's fairly snug, however it just feels like it should be a lot 'easier' to pedal. i mean i ride a compact groupset and i'm riding on the easiest gearing! anything harder than the easiest gearing makes pedalling quite hard!
any thoughts?

Does the flywheel spin freely by hand when the tyre's not touching?
It's not frozen solid is it?
Btw somebody will be along soon to tell you to htfu ;-)
^ not doing it right!
