My road bike has a puncture and because I'm mechanically inept I won't have it fixed before Sunday so maybe I will ride Brighton.

You think you're inept?
I've got a new brake on order, but I'm too scared to put it on for Sunday incase I cock it up and I suddenly find myself brakeless down a steep hill.

can we really get on a train to come back to London?.....never been allowed near Brighton Station before and have ridden back, geared though. Not told Mrs. Kipsy and the little Kippers yet, so tentative, and I may bail early (like, at the bottom of Ditchling ;0)

yes, i've caught a train before from brighton direct to any thameslink station in london - east croydon, london bridge, blackfriars, kings cross thameslink, and probably more beyond all the way to luton that but that's where i get off. it's very easy, and not too expensive either (normal single price, +/- discount). and we're in luck this weekend as there appear to be no trackworks, so will take little over an hour return. as for bailing - no! i'm sure a number of us will be walking up ditchling (and others).

Is there any chance that we'll be back for a late showing at polo?
Or am I being super ambitious?
-
• #192

Stompy if you fancy you can head over to my place on sat and I will help you install break if you need. I'll whisper my post code if you need.

Jonny
I saw your post about the speech – good on you. I'm a little gutted that I'm going to be missing Remembrance Day on TV for this ride. I'd like to stop riding for at 11 am for the two minute silence if that's OK with everyone. Can we schedule it as a rest stop?

Watch out for road closures on the way to the start

I was going to set an alarm on my mobile to remind us to stop. I didn't think anybody would mind.

sano, stompy, very good idea guys. and i feel a little bad now as i made that stuff up about the speech - was just subtley trying to remind people of the day

I'm game for a two minutes silence. It'd seem weird not to pay our respects.
-
• #199
