I got one of the Aldi cycling computers years ago, it's been great. They are only a fiver so pretty much as cheap as you can get. Does current speed, max speed, avg. speed, trip distance, total distance, temperature, and has a little arrow to say whether you're going faster or slower than your avg. speed. Other than wanting wireless, I don't know why you'd buy anything else TBH.
Also got their winter trousers and jersey last year. Great for the price.

Lidl have got copies of SKINS compression base layers in at the moment.
Shorts, Socks, short sleve base, and sleeveless base. (£7.99, £4.99, £9.99, £8.99)Not as good as skins, but pretty damn impressive for the money. I especially like the socks.
humm sure it's not 'Skins'? they're using the logo and product gumph that comes with Skins - heading there on my way home - seems to good a bargin to miss

My local Lidl only had L & XL for the clothing and tiny sizes for the socks.
It didn't even look like they supplied any small to begin with.
Wallet remained in pocket. didn't even by any caramel waffle wafers or mister choc spread. -

Saw the tv advert last night and got down to my local store at 12 today. Couldn't believe it but lots of lycra clad cyclists were jostling over jerseys and such.
Got myself some leggings, winter trousers, lycra long sleeve under shirt and arm warmers. Such good deals and pretty good quality.I imagine it's like the Lidl bike stuff, it doesn't stay around for too long.

Compression stuff looks good from advert, will go see if there are any left. Round here all the medium sized stuff goes quick, but if I go to the next nearest one in a scaggy town its pretty much teh other way around :D
Their winter jackets are actually very good. Paid about £10-13 for mine last year, lined with a short piled fleece, body is windproof, arms & pits are just material. Stitching & zips are of a better than average quality. Certainly a better fitting (and materials used) than a much more pricey endura jacket I bought the year before.

All the merino stuff was gone up by the time I got to OKR last night, so made do with a couple of LS tops and the last pair of arm warmers. Good quality for the price, and certainly good enough for commuting. I already have a couple of winter jackets, so gave those a miss. The shoes looked pretty decent, and if they are as good as the ones I bought previously will easily soak up a couple of thousand miles before needing any attention, although the brown ones are fugly

http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/special_buys3_20806.htm
Finally found a set of these, local one had lost an entire box of them at the back of stockroom, then when they put them out because been more than 2weeks since the deal, automatically reduced.... to £6.49
Exactly what I was after, a decently thick windproof pair of winter pants for MTB/ROAD that are cheap. Padding bit is a pain but about to cut out (hate padding).
made of same material as their winter/ windproof jacket (not waterproof, but good enough unless your in a rainstorm). -
• #135
hate padding? How long do you ride for? Only short journeys I'm guessing.
-
• #136
4-6hrs is a normal ride. I don't commute.
Padding makes me numb and constant fidget on saddle, no padding = fine. -
• #137
Yeah I'm not a fan of padding for long journeys either - it makes my doodle (fnar fnar) go numb. No padding is somewhat less cushy but definitely better. I cut the padding out of my Aldi trousers last year... at the same time I also got an executive desk chair and some tinned lobster thermidor.

I can wear shorts/pants with padding but only on a saddle with one of those cut out glory hole/frosty morning puddle surprise holes in them. Needless to say, no padding gets the point.

For anybody willing to ride east to Romford ALDI, there's plenty of winter jackets, compression tops and gloves left. I think they had cheap wetsuits available too.

So much cheap shit. No Aldi anywhere near me though!

-
• #145
You're looking for balls?
-
• #146
Completely forgot about this. I meant to pick up some more shorts, as the ones last year have been great for commuting.

Got one of the flashy soft shell jackets. Step aside, Rapha.
And a pair of socks too.

Rapha don't do flapjacks but if they did...
-
