  • I just spent a bloody fortune in Aldi. I deliberated for ages over the soft shell jackets as the womens ones are all really pink and horrible, so ended up buying a mans one. Hmm.

Prob best - bought the wife one 'you taking the piss? I don't do pink' sent back to get a black one, nothing like being appreciated :)

  • I picked up some more commuting tops and shorts and a white softshell, as I feel I'm asking for trouble wearing all black on dark evening rides when it's colder. Worth a pop at £15.

EDIT: Also bought a flapjack and bratwurst and enjoyed spotting the lookalike brands.

  • their version of mars bars are actually better than current genuine mars bars. trufax

  • I popped in today to get some groceries and noticed they had a couple bits of cycling leftovers. Bought a set of two very small panniers. Just what I was after. Seem well made. My current panniers are huge so I only ever use one, which makes the bike lopsided. Two small ones is better.

OMG this is so true aha, and their version of snickers

  • I picked up ... a white softshell

Worked brilliantly today. Perfect paired with the Rapha Cross top on the SkySlowride.

  • Wore mine for the last couple of days, I'm impressed with it as well. For £14.99 it's top quality.

  • Very, very impressed by the water/wind proof jacket. Totally dry after 2hrs of constant rain and no 'boiling in the bag' due to venting. Also the white looks a bit Euro. Budget Euro...

  • Aldi have got some more stuff coming in this Thursday, overshoes, arm and leg warmers, and apparently some 'merino' kit as well. Also selling a tool kit.
    .

  • Spoke reflectors £4.99, deffo worth it, I may replace mine cos they're gunked up.

  • got a good bike bag in a Belgian Aldi last year, using it almost daily and it's still in great condition. very cheap too :)

  • Swarms of people this morning! All the jackets gone! (I got there at 08.10!)

  • Also £5 off a £35 spend voucher in the Daily Mirror today (felt very dirty buying it)

  • I got there about 8.30 and have never seen so many bikes outside! Inside it was almost completely deserted, apart from where all the bike stuff was. It looked the most polite looting ever, with intense rummaging interspersed with "are you looking for a Medium - there's one here!"

I bought far more than I intended: merino top, waterproof trousers, base layers, spoke reflector thingys... and stocked up on biscuits and sweets too.

I doubt there'll be much there by this evening.

  • hipsters

  • Loads of winter jacket and lights left
No merino top left and 3 tool kits left
tools kits are an absolute bargain

  • The tool kits are godd vfm, I've got loads of use from mine. The chain whip bent but then again so did my Icetoolz one; there's always rotafix.

I ended up upgrading the BB tool but that was for a particularly troublesome BB.

  • balls, late to the party. I assume the peckham store will be a wasteland by the time I can make it there tonight (about 9). :(

  • Went to our local up in the Midlands at lunchtime and it was full of bloody cyclists!

Got some armwarmers on the cheap.

  • Saw this torque wrench advertised in the store today

    http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/special_buys3_26856.htm

no mention of the torque range though.

  • I'm hoping no one has got to the Catford one yet. Got a decent 100% Merino base layer in there a year or so ago.
Hopefully there'll be some toolkits left and I'm interested to see what the rain jackets are like. Maybe better than my Halfords 'SwetBag'.

  • Bought the front and rear light set and I'm really impressed by the them, and for £7!

  • need to get that led lights as a backup option. only £3
