Because there are quite a lot of races to get through an induction would eat into the day quite a lot, HH guy did suggest a little induction beforehand... I'm gonna speak to him today with what prizes we have (I still don't have the complete prize list), that'll determine the race programme and see what he says about a mini-induction for all the folks that have to come a long way...
Sorry if I haven't had much info lately but I've been out of the country for most of the last 10 days and when I have been here work's been a total time-consuming bitch...
Also got let down by my print guy so spoke cards will be of the home-made variety, I've got access to a laminator so I'll print them at work and laminate those tonight...
Pray for good weather and see you guys tomorrow and Sunday!
Joe :)
Prizes so far:
Rollapaluza: Rollapaluza CC membership and club clobber
Cavendish Cycles: Pair of IRO track hubs (gun metal grey, 32h)
Brixton Cycles: TBC today
Condor Cycles: TBC today
Roberto Bicicletas: TBC today -

yeah, cos i have time to go to HH twice in one weekend.
it's just daft not to run a quick induction first, how long does it take, FFS?
Including own-bike fettling/hire bike distribution, about 2 hours. You can't just ride round the track a couple of times whilst someone shouts random stuff about etiquette.
If participants are organized and conscientious (the fill-in-my-recorded-delivery-form-whilst-I'm-waiting-in-the-post-office-queue mentality), and there aren't too many inductees, maybe closer to an hour.

so do we have to abide by the rules of the track even though we are a anarchic bunch hiring (?) the track for the day ? will drops be required ? will ma3k be able to take swigs from his litre bottle of whiskey on the way around ? will there be a skid competition down the home straight will there be polo if the rain falls ? i need answers to these questions

There will be killing.

will there be a skid competition down the home straight
So you wanna hire a facility specifically designed and built for going fast, so that you can have "slowing down" competitions, which can be held anywhere? good plan.

my real question was, should i bring my drops, the other comments were sarcastic aimed at the anarchic cyclists amongst us i never skid any of my bikes ( well my bmx a bit but thats for getting round corners quicker )

well, how many people going have done the induction? is there a danger of 50 people watching 6 people ride round all day?

Drops are a must if you wanna ride your own bike, they must have either bar tape/plugs or track grips, no brake and fixed wheel, natch... Info's buried on the thread somewhere...
BTW IMHO Skid stopping is one of the most fun things in the world (that you can do on a bike)... -

As someone who went down last Sat to be inducted, I'm pretty keen to start racing at 1pm and get as much time on the track as possible.
But is it possible for people to do their induction that morning?. It took us between 1 and a half and 2 hours so they could start their induction at 11am.
Really, really looking forward to this. Well done Joe for organising. I just hope the rain holds off.
Oh, and do we have a programme of events yet? I need to actually work out what all the differnt races are.

.it would certainly make sense - can we ask them?

What's the deal with cost? Are we 'paying on the door'?
Will tardy inductees pay extra for the extra hours the track might be booked? Or will it just come out of nimhbus's pocket?
-
• #415
tardy inductees could pay extra - the cost of a normal induction - it only seems fair.
-
• #416
Induction is £10 plus another £5 for bike hire, plus a £50 deposit.

The after party is the pedal-powered party in Dalston (but DB won't get past security, so don't worry)...
