only need a lid if you want to enter competitions or join the BADBMX team. i think they use it for team/olympic training between 2pm and 4pm on sundays and you cant ride while they're on the track.
rest of the time its an open gate for all to use, any bikes allowed! i ride my 24 cruiser and 26 mountain bike there...

knob haha! Yeh I used to think eveything he made was badass too, it's not, here's a list of failed products (not to mention his old custom frames):
gland 1/2 (using a shoelace to hold on a hubguard???)
wombolts (up to v3 already)
elementry stem (v3 also, the first ones cracked or only fitted odyssey forks)His new rachet hub (not cassette????), ok i'll give him that and the marmoset too and the rims as well.
But oh I forgot - Plegs haha!!!!
He also said he would never make 36 hole hubs.Anyway yeh, he definately got a lot of BMXers through a difficult mid-school stage. But thats it, his products aren't any better than anyone elses.
I've never met him personally, he might be a gen up guy. From what I've been told though, he's weird.
I think you're missing the point. He said he would never make a cassette hub or 36 hole hub UNTIL he could design one that could withstand the necessary forces. Which he did. What's the problem?
The shoelaces mod for the GLAND2 was actually genius. Zip ties were too brittle, they kept snapping, a shoelace allows the GLAND2 to flex and move when under stress and thus not break. Name me a better hubguard?
I've had a V1 Elementary since they 1st came out, still going strong, as is my GLAND2. You have to remember a lot of people who break parts are little 15 year old kids who have no idea about bike maintenance or fitting. They just hammer shit on and then whine when it breaks.
PLEGS solved the concrete park grinding problem that was in the USA. You probably never got chucked out of a park for grinding so you don't realise the issue these solved.
And like PGM my Homer is solid as fuck and rolls forever. Still going strong after 7 years of really sketchy street riding.

Ah, Brick to Brix. One of the hardest things I have ever done on a bike. I got in 7th, 2places off the prizes. I was gutted but at the time I couldnt even think about it as I was trying not to be sick. The headwind down towards Oval was awefull.

Are you George French?
Bet you run your homer on an alex supra as well? The Alone Scots Guard is actually better and retrofits directly onto a marmoset hub http://www.customriders.com/prodshow.asp?prodid=9456&cat=24&parent=1001
The bsd Jersey Barrier is great for Odyssey cassette hubs too.G's products always take years to come out: wombolts, ratchet hub (where's this freecoaster?), and are expensive compared to odyssey stuff and even american made stuff now. I saw 3 sets of wombolts fail at a jam I rode at 2 years ago, while I still see people riding the old odyssey ones now.
As for little 15 year old kids who don't know how to put their bikes together. They are BMX, they've got the enthusiasm that is begining to wain in me. Parts should be as universal as poss and bikes shouldn't be hard to put together. Wtf do you think everyone rides brakeless today?
That FBM is nice

I never got one of them. I was strapped for cash at the time and went for a Base Brooklin T-shirt instead. I looked so god damn, god damn cool with that and my Volume Hellion. Those were the days of finding street to ride in Salisbury Plain (quite a lot in old Army towns).

Base Brooklyn ahh, yeh had that shit too, got it from some shop on chalkfarm road??
The base brooklyn vid (free with ride) with that polish(??) guy in it was rad. Butcher was so rad, as was ratboy! The homer was king then, big city rims/citylites are still decent / cheap. Alex Supras were and still are ridiculous.
Ridings moved on a lot, everyones so much smoother. Yeh fashions part of the brakeless thing, as is the cost, setup and maintenance.

I rode brakeless for years (pretty much copying Rat Boy and Bucher). I put a brake on because I got fed up of not being able to stop when crusing down hills. When actualy ride though, the bike feels so much nicer brakeless.

There is a half decent concrete skate park in Daganham. You need to get there eirly though and be gone by 1ish. The locals said that the gangs start showing up after that. Didn't see anything dodgy myself though.

Just found this about plegs:
From: Odysseybmx.com/dailword: • They’re available in black and white now, but what else has changed? Thanks to your feedback, our own long-term testing, and a total re-design to the injection tooling, the newest Plegs now feature a thicker cross-section at the end to extend their grinding life, and the sleeve’s plastic compound has been tweaked slightly to also improve on their overall durability. The ringing in our ears from the standardized testing hasn’t stopped. Every batch must pass on our “true-to-life” test rig or it is rejected, and this updated version has been spot-on. Also, if you have the original Pleg hardware, then the newest replacement sleeves will work perfectly.
I remember people had problems fitting original plegs because a regular 17mm socket was real tight in the insert.
I'm happy brakeless / brakes. I need brakes for manuals though. Anyone that can manual / drop in without my brakes gets my respect though.
