Went to the post office, on my way home around 5, pulled away from the lights and...
bloody hell He-Man, you OK? good excuse to get the drops out!
-
• #578
i'm fine, ta :-)
would be nice to get the drops out, but i think this has been brought on by my stuck stem - went to cranks on friday to put my new headset on, and turns out the stem's stuck. we heaved at it good for about an hour!
see you in 5

i had to bail from yet another puncture, beginning to think i'm cursed
-
• #581
heading to the track after work if it stops raining... anyone else in?
thanks for the ride yesterday. my head hurts a bit today, that copperwheat beer is too good!
would be good to see some pics from yesterday if C could host them somewhere? flickr perhaps?

get that rim sorted K, shame you had to drop out. it's not a piece of glass stuck in the tyre is it? might be worth having a really good look at it.
-
• #583
shame, kelvin, was fun. good luck sorting it out. may come to the track - depends on the weather. gizza bell after work if you like.

my week just gets better! left my mobile on a bus, new one coming on the same number in a few days but off the grid till at least the weekend... How was the trevour arms?
-
• #585
trevor arms was good. beautiful evening and a nice ride. we busted out some choice pub dishes of yore (ham, egg and chips, scampi and chips, steak and kidney pudding) and drank some beer.
sorry to hear about your mobile... if your bike hadn't of been bust, would you even have been on the bus? bummer.
-

ham, egg and chips
i could murder that right now!
This is a lovely pub but would require a loner ride to get there by the nice rides: http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/12/12211/Cricketers_Arms/Berwick
kelvin, sorry to hear about the phone bro, not a good week.

didn't catch you at the track, paul...
-
• #588
no, long torturous story!
next week though. we should all race. we need to do that one week.
did you get the stem out?
-
• #589
not tried yet... been really busy with work.
off on holiday on saturday for a week - france, near ventoux, without bike... see you all after that!
-
• #590
enjoy it man. I love france.
you lot out tonight. in town after my show, text if you're beering it up.

hey max, good to meet you the other week, did you hear any creaking before your stem went? I only ask as my stem/bar area has had a creak for the last few months and I'm alway paranoid that'll happen as I'm hammering down north street!

hey richc...
not that sticks in the mind. i'd had the stem in a vice at cranks last week, trying to dislodge it cos it's stuck in the forks, so had been forcing it a little. that's what i blame it on (not that i blame cranks!). still need to get it out somehow, so gonna take it back down when I get back from holiday.
i would be suspicious of any creaking when you're pulling on the stem tho. mine snapped when i was straining to get away from the lights.
cheers

if you give it a good grease it should get rid of the creak... if it still creaks after that then i'd say it's serious. lewis is the authority on this stuff though!
-
• #594
Can anyone remember what the recommended gear is for preston park. Mid 80's?
Lewis, you got any cogs in at the mo?
-
• #595
i am now free of punctures, three tubes repaired, new track pump bought, armidilo on the rear and 100psi for the first time ever!
-

haha respect my authority! for a start an aluminium stems wont normally creak before it snaps as ali likes to make itself brittle through fatieg then snap suddenly! hence thats why you dont get aluminium rigid forks on road bikes anymore! too many broken faces. Most likely it was due to max trying to wrestle his stem and forks free, but is also the danger in using old secondhand parts. you just dont know what they have been through prior to your own use!
hey paul the surly stuff hasnt come in yet even though it should have been here last week! oh and if your still interested im putting together a bagaboo order early in the week.
Right, thats enough shop talk!
My team mate and i got 19th at the 8hour enduro on Saturday at Stanmer park, which im very pleased with! at one point we were 17th and at another we were 24th so im very happy that we were in the top 20! the course was super fun and very technical and thankfully the weather held up! and we did it on singlespeed mtbs! ha overtaking people uphill has never been so much fun!
-
• #597
good work lewis. I didn't know that was on this weekend. doh!
i'm just working out sizes on those bags. will pm you in a minute.
and kelvin, good to see your sorted. the track pump is your friend!
-
• #598
how much are the bagaboos? still on the grobags waiting list
-
• #599
Tip for today. Don't ride along the seafront. It hurts.
Kelvin, 76-100 for normal mess bag i think. super ones like lewis' should be a bit more.
