met someone on a black fixie (what is it with black bikes..?) coming along passed st peter's church. i was on my ridiculous yellow lo pro. is it anyone on here??
If you said "nice bike" as you passed, and the reply sounded like "likewise mate", then that was me - unusual looking handlebars you had? I've been going up and down that road for years and I still meet people who have been doing the same!Could be due to the fact that I can't really cope with chatting and cycling in traffic at the same time, so I generally don't - shame really but it gets a bit hairy sometimes!

Climb Southover? ha ha I wish, I've been running my stock fuji ratio for 2 years now, it was never a problem going kemp town to hove everyday now I've moved to 'musli mountain' its a different story. Must get around to gearing down.

yep, that was me. ride that route pretty much everyday, and yeah, conversations and traffic don't mix..
maybe see you down the track sometime, or on the social ride this wednesday if it's still happening?? anyone still interested in popping for a ride and a beer after watching a few races at the track?

the southove race sounds good!! i've been up it a few times on 42 x 16, but i usually take elm grove to avoid nearly dying. when my friends from london came down last i took them on a round trip up elm grove and down southover to give them the real flavour of cycling in brighton. Needless to say they weren't very pleased (especialy going down southover brakeless teehee!) Apparently brighton is the SF of the UK.

im in for wednesday, see whoever turns up at the track for tea and cake, watch some crazy fast racers then ride/pub. thats a good plan!

pissed off I can't make wednesday. have a good one people, lets make it a regular thing.
i saw the black bike with pursuit bars and yellow tyres today. there's also a chrome pista with the stickers removed knocking about too.
p.s. i think i'm going to have put risers on my fix. oh the shame!

the shame indeed!
ps - I saw a girl outside Taj with a yellow-framed fixed with tapeless drops and bright shiny red-ish deep Vs. Brakeless. Is that a full hipster alert?
My arrospoke is on order...
;-)
Shame not to see you tomorrow Paul. See everyone else at the track around 6.

Hey guys.
Just looked at the track timetable. Tomorrow doesn't start until 7pm. If we don't meet until 7, that won't give us much time to ride after watching a couple of races.
What do people think about meeting earlier (say 6) and then finishing up with cake at the track?
Happy to play it either way, so just let me know.
Cheers,
Max

The Southover Sprint sounds like a great idea, that seals it I'd better get a bigger rear cog then. Plently of good waterholes too around Hanover.
I'll give a wave as I pass bike hut in the future.

i'm up for a 6pm ride tomorrow. cake and tea at the track after.
crustlord - not sure i have any spare lights to lend. i'll probably need to get a bright one myself...
the southover challenge sounds hardcore, but i'm up for it. probably best to try it fairly late in the evening so there's no traffic!

Having said what I said a coupla hours ago, I now need to meet someone at 6.
How about 6:30 - so we might get to the track at 8?
Sorry to piss around.

half six is better for me too...
So we need a date when we are all available to do the southover sprint, maybe even get a few of the london hill specialists down though we might have to let down their tyres or file their cogs in case they win though
-
• #343
Man whatever happens with the hill sprint, I foresee needing:
a) a much larger cog
b) some dastardly and mutley style dirty tricks (oil slicks, drawing pins, mallets, rockets, etc)
even to have a chance of a podium finish!

RichC, not a great choice mate, those used to be my commuting roads. I guess I try and use the back doubles as much as poss. Are you able to climb Southover?
