  • im working for 8 days in a row :*( so no for me.

Critical Mass Friday at 6ish in the middle of the Level, then there are bicycling films at the Caroline of Brunswick pub at 8......

  • Did any of you guys get down the track to watch on wednesday?

  • sorry, can't make the ride this weekend, got to help someone move house :(

babydino - i did make it down, did a few laps to have a quick stretch of the legs, but had been to see the physio just before, he worked my legs quite hard so i didn't register to race. have a form though, will try to make it next week. think i'm doing the steyning 10 the night before, so not sure how fresh the legs will be...

really good turn out i see, and that first scratch race looked pretty fast!!! saw some pretty serious kit too - zipp discs!?

did anyone else get down? i couldn't spot any familiar faces.

  • no, didn't make it this work. and missed the CM/film stuff tonight. Too much work on. I'll be there next week, hopefully with new bike.

Andy, is that TT you're going to have a bash at? Sounds interesting.

  • I joined Brighton Excelsior this year so I could do the time trials on a Tuesday at Steyning.

I did my first 10 last Tuesday, hope to be there next Tues but the forecast is wind and rain so I'll probably use gears

£2.50 entry on the line but I think you have to be a member of a club to do it, maybe an insurance thing, they do have a "Come and Try It" on 17th June that is open to anybody that hasn't done a tt

  • tt sounds a laugh and short distance away from work at shoreham... so is it just me and elvis on sunday then?

  • Managed to make it out to seaford and back this morning, about 26-27 miles was quite a good day for it. Think I got lucky with the rain, got some drizzle while I was eating cake on the beach at seaford.

Not too bad with the hills but glad I had the 18t though.

  • the 18 will make loads of difference. new bike is built. yes! might go out for a spin tonight.

  • yeah, TT on tuesday, weather permitting... should be fun, not expecting to do well!

anyone coming to the track on weds?

  • anyone coming to the track on weds?

    I'll be there weather permitting.

  • This weather is shit. Brighton seafront today. Serious headwind, driving freezing fun. Not fun.

Guessing the track will be canceled tomorrow unless it lets up??

  • Not going to make the track tomorrow - got to be up in London.

Me n Andy are tentatively planning a Saturday morning ride, though, if anyone's game.

    What do you think?

  • tis the isle of wight ride this sunday so prob going to be heading over some point on saturday so don't think I'm gonna be around I'm afraid

  • Max, I'd be up for it. What you thinknig?

  • Not really thought very far... a morning's ride out over the downs and back again?

Maybe explore some of the roads that the Evans ride took us along. I have to work in the afternoon so nothing too long. And my enthusiasm will fall if rain does, though I definitely want to get out...

  • sounds good max. if it rains, maybe sunday morning?

  • Hey Paul,

I can't do Sunday (if I could, I'd be tempted to do the Isle of Wight thing... unfortunately my better half says it's not allowed).

But I think Saturday's a goer. Hard at work now, I'll have a look at the weather tomorrow and then let's arrange.

    Max

  • You lot up a regular wed night ride? think I've got a regular free pass

  • Yeah, I'm up for that. Good luck at the IOW thing Kelvin. Catch you next week.

    Max, speak to you tomorrow.

  • Yeah I hope the weather holds out, Kelvin.

I'd be up for a ride most Wednesdays... the only thing is that I have a set of drops now, so I might give em a whirl on the track sometime.

    cheers

  • woopdee fucking dooo! the council has spent a bunch of money on a completely rubbish bike path along the drive in hove (dunno if any of you have seen it). it's one of those lanes that are seperated from the road by a row of parking spaces. in theory... good. in brighton...a fucking haven for idiot drivers.

i was talking to my friend the other day how it is stupid, because it's the only bike path like this in brighton, so drivers are obviously not going to even realise that the path exists and just pull out without even looking...

and sure enough, i was on my way to meet some friends for a ride this evening and some idiot pulls into the lane without looking and the next thing i know i'm over the bonnet. luckily i just have a bruised shoulder and my front wheel needs truing.

this path is fucking stupid and i advise you all not to use it.

p.s. sorry for the rant. i'm just angry and in pain. x

  • yeah I use that on the way to work, absolute nightmare. Though I do quite like the drop kirb at the end so I can get straight up onto the seafront cycle path.

The bit behind king alfred centre makes no sense either, cross the road three or four times is really narrow when there is a perfectly decent bit of path they could use.

Hope the drivers paying for the truing and you heal up quick

  • yeah that bit at the king alfred centre is rediculous. i usually just stay on the road.

yeah, the driver was very apologetic, which always forces me to be polight. why can't I get more angry with these fuckers!!!

  • man that's shit.

hope you're not too badly hurt.

btw, crustlord, did i see you last night?

saw a group of three on fixed in pelham square - a brown langster with risers, a surly and a silver mash(?) with drops?

i was on a red bike with bullhorns...

  • i saw you ride past this morning max, going past the hampton pub... You were too far away before I realised.
