They're basically the same length - 25 miles. Bognor is about a mile further, if anything. I've done both fixed.
Bognor route is quite well signposted (NCN1), flat as a pancake and pretty dull. Eastbourne is a nice ride, especially if you just stay by the sea. Up and down over the cliffs, a dip into Newhaven then a pig of a climb up the first of the Seven Sisters on a narrow road the other side of Seaford. Quite busy that stretch, but preferable to turning left and following the Sustrans route inland, which is what I took on my fixed. Haven't attempted the hill on my fixed. I imagine I would have to get off, but then I am riding a 82" gear.
Are you planning one-way or the round trip? If it's one way, I'd make a decision on the morning depending on the wind!
Am tempted to join you. Let me first work out if I'm cycling to Ardingly on Sunday for a swimming lesson (don't ask!)...
If you wanna know anything else, let me know.

Pistanator, yeah no one seems to know where the track is in brighton. In case you come down again it's in preston park on the london road out of town.
Max, Kelvin. Either ride is fine with me. Sunday is a def. Sat is a bit touch and go as I have some work doing with a deadline that day. Weather is a bit so-so.

OK mate, under the bridge? Left or right side of the road?

yep, under the viaduct on the road out of town. straight on. you'll see the park is on your left. track is in the park at the top end. hidden from view as it's behind a fence. next to the stately home place.

Just found it on the interweb - http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/web/MultimediaFiles/20070502_PRESTON_PARK_02.JPG
Looks flat as a witches tit!?!

yep fairly flat. mild banking on the first corner, bit steeper on the last.

• #258
fairly flat apart from the little hill on the back straight... ;-)

Hey now, dont you be abusing my home track!!!!!!!

try reverse rotafixing first. basically just do the rotafix method the other way round. you use the leverage of the wheel and it gives you much more power than any chainwip. Method here, just do it other way round http://204.73.203.34/fisso/eng/schpignone.htm
You were right it worked!
So we decide based on which way the wind blows?
So we going for sun or sat?

I did a 10 mile time trial tonight on the Steyning by pass, I had 50x16, one other rider was on fixed, a proper time trialist had 52x13, don't think I could pedal that down a hill

see some of you on the weekend for a ride, maybe CM on friday...

if the traffic is light on the roundabouts at Shoreham flyover and up from the old cement works then there's no stopping, I guess if you have the strength for a 105" gear go for it, I find 82" quite big enough
when I first saw his back wheel I wasn't certain there was a sprocket on it, looked like the chain just went round the axle

count me out, i'm afraid.
i am cycling to ardingly on sunday for a front crawl lesson - want to do a lot more sea swimming this year and thinking (very vaguely!) about a triathlon in the (distant) future...
would anyone like to ride on tuesday evening after work, though?
btw, the weather doesn't look too bad for the weekend on Metcheck, which I think's better than the BBC.
I was thinking of going last week while I was there but didn't know exactly where it was - not being from Brighton. I asked a few people but no-one really knew - few people were saying it's near the football ground but didn't fancy cycling around, up and downhills like a knob'ead
