-
• #229
cool. place shuts at 12 so it would have to be early. cycle there and back if we're feeling fit. if not train back? get that 18 on man, it'll be a revelation.

+1 hate to the hailsham couriers
About half of the deliveries to Cranks arrive when we're closed and end up getting bounced there, meaning that someone in a car has to go to Hailsham before we can get our hands on the shiny-bitz..
No-one should have to wait for their shiny-bitz.. it's bikegeek torture.

Hi guys any of you planning to race at Preston Park when the league starts next week?
I would love some feed back on what those who attended Try The Track thought? Was the coaching clear and helpful? Is there anything else you would like to know/have explained?
If so just message me
Lee
ps why hasnt anybody from here come and said hi to me!

I think we'd all have only good things to say. I did the try the track sessions last year and that was great. This year is even better with the structured tuition from the BC guy. The sessions fell at a busy time for me this year so haven't done too much participating. When I put my fixed back together I will and do a few racing meets if poss.
And I'll come say hi next week.

Hey Lee,
yeah the practice/coaching was really fun and a good experience! I didnt think id find riding next to people more scary than riding next to lorries! haha
missd last week due to a stinking cold, do you know what type of races they do at preston park? I guess id love to try but im not sure if id be any good really.... also being new to the race thing i felt there was a little lack in explaining types of races and at least vague tacktics invloved.... -

Hi Lewis
thanks for responding, the link below tells you the racing programme for this coming season
http://www.scrl.co.uk/calendar.htmlDont worry about the level you are at now, we have three groups at the league catering for a wide spread of abilities with different races for each on some nights and also some mixed group races. So im sure you will find pople you are competative against whatever your current fitness!
Also the only way to get better is to race! Reguarding tactics its hard to explain those in a couple of sessions and you will mainly have to pick it up by expirence and asking others, you are most welcome to ask me what ever you like and I will try my best to answer helpfully

shit, if it's really stuck you might have to try and skid it off. cranks should be able to help though.
by pure fluke i happened to be back at mine when the guy tried to redeliver, so don't have to go to hailsham. yes!

hey George.. good to see you here. This place has been taking up far too much of my time recently.. dissertation-advoidace-a-go-go
Also, I think we've accidently given Preston Park track a bad rep.. it now comes up 5th in a Google UK search for 'ghettodrome', amongst a load of races organised in empty parking garages and the like. :/

where did the name ghettodrome come from??
weather is shit, maybe a ride tomorrow. you get that sprocket of yet kelvin?
and hello george, welcome to the forum.

Hi Lee,
I had a great time at the Try the Track. Only got to the first one, but enjoyed it and thought they looked after us well. Not intimidating as I thought it would be, although race formats are a bit puzzling!
Had to borrow a bike, but I'm going to try to sort my fixed so it's track worthy (or buy a cheap track frame, depending on cash!). Then I'll try to build a bit of fitness and come race.
Will introduce myself next time I'm down - maybe this Wednesday.
Congratulations on the Roller Race btw - well done Pete! and I thought you looked unlucky to be squeezed out when you were.
On another note: is anyone from Brighton going along to the May LFGSS outing to Herne Hill?
Cheers
Max

Hi Lee
I said hi, but didn't realise you were on the forum! I came along to the track a couple of weeks back on a black bike, you gave me some helpful advise when we were riding the devil, remember?
i will try and race this season, but resting my knees at the moment, got a pulled ligament (?) after a ride a few weeks back :(
the coaching looked pretty decent, but i could only make it to one session unfortunately. I just need some tips on tactics and some info on the rules of the races - my naive tactic of going to the front and staying there didn't seem to work too well...see you on wednesday if there knees are up to it.

Okay who has legs of steel who I can borrow for a few mintues, I can't skid this cog off grrr
-
• #249
that sounds like a challenge!! bit tied up till later in the week though buddy.
try reverse rotafixing first. basically just do the rotafix method the other way round. you use the leverage of the wheel and it gives you much more power than any chainwip. Method here, just do it other way round http://204.73.203.34/fisso/eng/schpignone.htm

I'll give that a go before leaving work this evening. Fingers crossed...
So Bognor or Eastbourne?
Bognors a bit further but I've never been there? I figure Eastbourne route will be a bit more hilly but probably five or six miles shorter
still up for a wee ride this weekend paul, but how about to bognor or eastbourne on the 26th or 27th?
