Thought so, think I may build with some cheaper Sapim to check I have the lengths right before splashing out on c x rays.

Can anyone confirm the ERD of a Mavic Module E2? I've found 611mm online but it would be good to get that confirmed (so I can order spokes) without having to get hold of the rim to measure it (it's not in my possession yet).

Also, anyone know of any inexpensive (like, Formula/Zenith money) low flange sealed bearing track hubs that aren't Miche?

I have these from Novatech. Cheap, kinda light, and seem pretty solid. -

If they come in 36H, those are perfect, thanks - have you got a link?

According to the catalogue they do....
http://issuu.com/novatectaiwan/docs/catalog_2012_novatec_hubs_v1Bought mine off EBay. Can only see 32H though.
Awful photo. But the flanges are nice and low.

I'm after low flange though. I guess they haven't come back into fashion yet...
Smallfurry, I found a Polish site selling them but not much else. I'll keep an eye on eBay.

Just had a decent look around my usual european websites. Nada.
Have you looked at the Sturmey Archer ones? CNC.de has 36h rear.

They're pretty high flange still - thanks though. It's not a big deal, was just wondering. There's lots of choice for budget HF hubs, so little for LF.

Why not just get the miches? Good hubs

Quoted so your comment will outlast the hubs, although it was probably going to anyway.

I wouldnt change my mind. My last wheelset was open pros on low flange miches. Did over 10,000 miles on them in crappy weather and the bearings were still buttery smooth. Apart from adjusting the cone nuts a couple times, they never needed servicing

I have a nice pair of mavic CXP 14 rims which I want to build up on dura ace hubs for a bling wheelset for a 90's steel build.
What spokes should I use?
in terms of Sapim spokes would it be a waste of money to use CX ray even though the Mavics are not particulary lightweight or aero?
Maybe superspokes or just laser instead? want the best, as lightweight as possible, and good looking to boot.
I'm going 32 front, 36 rear for strength.

yep, should have asked in there instead of starting a new thread - apologies

If you want the best, CX-Ray are as good as you'll get in terms of weight, strength and aerodynamics.

for the front you can use whatever you want.......if u have the cash go cx-ray if not go laser..... using superspokes would be a bit tricky as first you will need 1.8 nipples and second you would need spoke head washers to make them fit properly in the flange
for the back you are likewise limited - again if you have the moneis go cx ray....if not i wouldn't use laser or superspokes as they are not really suitable for drive sides or disc sides and with fixed wheel you have pretty much both which leaves you with race

Anyone know what the ERD is on the H+ Son TB14's, got some suzue promax hubs which I need to rebuild and the H+'s look really nice, not enjoying the price though...
Also any other equivalent, lower profile box section rim out there which looks as good but could be had for a cheaper price?
-
• #521
^usually a few NOS Mavic anodised rims on Ebay for same look as TB14 or Halo have a polished box profile Retro rim in a few drillings for £40.
-
• #522
double, long time no speak/see/spot. would those NOS mavic's be machined?
am going to have a look now, but just thought I'd ask at the same time.. -
• #523
Same as Campy rims; mix of machined and non machined. Campy Omega are another anodised non machined clincher box section rims that the TB14 is like

• #524
tb14 is 610

So I'm thinking of taking a punt on some internet carbon - i appreciate this is risky and promise not to cry like a girl if a box of bullshit turns up. My question though: would a rim with these measurements be compatible with common ranges of hubs (ie goldtec, dura ace, planet x etc) and spokes or will i have to go on some epic possibly fruitless hunt to find decent components that would work out
