  • Oddly i managed to get a different looking HED website and couldn't find them... ta very much

  • HED uk wont sell you Adennes rims on their own. You have to buy a wheelset. They stopped selling the rim only (Belgiums) as they had a noticeable dip in wheelset sales. And they are a wheel manufacturer, not a rim manufacturer, as I was told by Steve at HED. They will replace a rim for you though, although you will have to send the wheel off to be rebuilt by them.

on another note, why the fuck is it such a mammoth task trying to get tyres onto Pacenti rims? litterally impssible to get a veloflex master on there, managed to get one bead on, but then could not get it off for love nor money once i realised I wasn't gonna mount the whole tyre. Had to cut the bead off in the end.

Me and Senor_Bear spent half an hour wrestling with my rear wheel after i punctured half way up Col de Turini last week. Was a fucking joke.

    Fuckers.

  • sounds like right pain .. I guess because they are wide rims. I faced this with A23 + Marathon Supreme. Did you try with soapy water?

  • of course i did.
there isnt much i didnt try.

Fitted a set of GP4000 II's instead, and they were stil a cunt to get on. Pinch flatted 3 inner tubes trying to get them on.

  • Are they 'tubeless-ready' rims?

  • I dont think so.

  • I believe the Pacenti SL23 are tubeless ready, yeah, which are often harder to get tyres onto and off. This is so there is less chance of the seal failing when run tubeless. But along with the extra width it makes standard clinchers a nightmare.

  • Zonda two-way-fits are a PITA too. Sounds like for the same reason.

  • tubeless is such a load of bull shit.
no need for it on a road wheel.

  • Anybody want a set of Pacenti's laced to orange CK R45's?
Exactly four days and 435 km of alpine use.Built by Talbot Wheelworks.

  • You can put sealant in any tube... so yeah I can't see the appeal of tubeless. I'll leave that for the early adopters.

  • Pre-stretch your clinchers - fold them one time & 30 minutes at 60 degrees in the oven.

  • Hoops, if that sale offer is serious (and not as a complaint about tyre fitting) i'd be interested to hear a price...

  • Found a new picture of the WU6C rim [28mm wide, 60mm deep] that is currently on it's way from China to Copenhagen.

As far as I am aware, you can still buy their rims in the UK. I bought a pair in June and I built a pair for a guy who bought a pair a couple of weeks ago... so unless your information is very recent, it is wrong.

  • ^ Out of interest, how much did they weigh, and what was the price?

I got a set of HED Belgium plus disc... didn't weigh them... they feel more or less like Archetype, so they are probably 480 or so.
They come at a staggering 129 quid a piece from HED UK, I think... I paid less, but that's another story

    Here's the babes

  • I've narrowed my search down to two rims, Archetypes or Kinlin XC279?

    You're doing it wrong.

  • Best spoke key? Seen a k-edge one but can't find it for sale. Need a few one. My spokey has given up.

  • DT Swiss, but when new it's pretty tight and for occasional use you are better off with a new spokey

  • I've got one of these, but I can't remember what brand it was. Probably Topeak from Evans.

  • Brixton C only had the 3 way park tools so got that.

It's okay. But a bit shit. I ordered the other style park tools from CRC. I tried to LBS.

  • With the Park 3 sided thing... I put blu tack in the two key holes that aren't being used so you can build a wheel without looking at your key every 30 seconds (or rounding off nips by using a key hole too large).
