and whats wrong with the Giants Spider?
-
• #353
tommy, I guess Giant have used a double crank and bolted a single ring on the inner position to get the chainline right.
It'll work, but looks ugly and, as said above, just lazy. -

i truly think of the bikes up there the fuji 08 is the best buy.
honest. -
• #355
now im really confused.. I look at the Giants Cranks and the Fuji's Cranks.. and they look the same to me.
-
• #356
do you still want the old fuji track?
what size? -
• #357
looks like the new fuji has a threaded fork and stem.

@ tommy, I was just going on what miro_o posted earlier. I can't tell from the photos
-

I just saw a Track Pro someone has built up today, I'll try to find out where he got it. Edwardes has Fuji Track frames only for £175 at the moment.
Fuck me i'm going there tomorrow.
edit: oh wait, frame. Damn.

@ tommy, i think miro_o was wrong looking at that, the giant bowery looks to have the same cranks (RPM) as the fuji track.
From a purely aesthetic point of view, the bowery is ugly. Sloping top tube is what does it for me. The fuji track is a proven frame & is steel & purpose built for the track, but don't let that put you off, it will be a much more responsive and fun ride than the bowery, I think.

I very much would go for the Fuji If i can find a 2007 model 54" at around the £320 mark.
-
• #362
you mean 54 cm :)
And why? what's so bad about the 2008? The only difference is the colour and the a-head stem rather than quill stem, as far as i can see.
-

If you could stretch to a 56, holcross are selling some '06 fuji tracks on ebay. You could always ask if they have a 54 kicking about:

£345 is a bit of a hit considering hollycross were selling it at £315 and I get a '08 model or a giant for around the same.
is the Fuji worth £30 more than the Giant?

i'd rather flay the skin from my face with a reel of rusty, faeces-covered barb wire, then immerse my head in bath of ungraded rock-salt crystals than ride this ABOMINATION of a bicycle.

Don't sit on the fence PJ... ;)
-
• #372
my budget is the best fixed i can get for as near to £300 as i can get.
-
• #373
sure, but silly comments aside, you buy the bowery, you are going to regret it. you buy the fuji, you are going to be happy.
fuji is worth ten giant bowerys. any bike named after a new york street should be treated with disdain, because that's exactly what the manufacturer is doing to you with their specious, patronising sales pitch, 'ooh, buy this lovely bike named after a hip manhattan street, you can be like one of those groovy couriers carving it up'. KerCHING.
for the record, i used to have a fuji track. it's a beast, really great bike.

What PJ said, if I was buying an OTP with a £300 budget I would be all over the Fuji Track...

yeah but its grey!
(silver)
and the chainring (black) attaches by the bolts.
