  • nice idea, I have one spare so will try it out..cheers neu..

  • toe-tally original thread

  • Turning any sharper then 10degrees is for stiffs and normals.

    Hipsters take the long arc.

  • learn to counter-steer.
over much more than walking pace you don't steer a bike by turning the bars, you do it by leaning.
to induce a lean to the left, push on the left side of the bar to move it further away from you and lean the bike over. You are now steering to the right ever so slightly but turning left.

cue lots of "don't lean" comments

  • whos a fucking hipster?????

  • ^^ Don't lean.

  • In all seriousness, this is a good instructional. Although it deals predominantly with motorcycles, the principles are the same and there's a bicycle in there too. Especially like the whiteboard bit at the start which sums up why aggressive use of the bars is a bad plan at any speed.

  • thanks, its great to finally be told how to steer, been getting it wrong all these yrs. next is tying shoelaces ....

  • Well I found it interesting and I'm not the bellend running my own feet over.

  • Get clipless pedals.

  • or chop your toes off
    problem solved

  • on your query about tying shoelaces
here is a simple guide i think you will find helpful

  • Or ask hippy about mid placement of cleats...

Or put a 650 wheel up front

    Or get the bus

  • That's not toe overlap. This is toe overlap.

Okay, it's not but what evs.

  • Everyone countersteers whether they know it or not.

  • ...and merge.. for Uberoverlapthread!

  • Fair enough, I did feel a bit stupid, just not used to track bike geometry thats all so it caught me by surprise. The bellend comment is going a bit far though eh.

  • don't be a cunt, the bellend comment was an endearment.

  • fair enough spunkychops, I stand duly corrected,

  • Just got back on the road after having to sort out a new track bike and almost came a cropper turning sharply to miss someones door.

Hope someone can suggest something better than chopping of my toes!

    I can.

Just ride a further away from the door zone in the primary position, and you won't have to do a drastic manoeuvre to avoid getting doored.
