No, Chris, this is about very late-in-the-day changes that the OPLC are proposing--it's they who are late to the game. The EUG has worked on this for years and we had a fully-consented scheme with a stable delivery plan and funding regime. The current proposal is to uproot that. Negotiations are very much ongoing.

I must admit, I don't know anything about it so the letter above didn't make much sense to me.

It's not an event, just an "official opening" involving some of the gb squad and dignitaries, for the press.

Let me explain, what happened was that as part of the deal to build on the old Eastway site ( go on you tube and I am sure you can find some film of the eastway so you can see what we lost) we were promised the Velo park , ie a replacement for the old Eastway site built around the Velodrome to be part of the Olympic legacy. The Velodrome and the Velopark were to become a centre for road, off road and BMX cycling. That was promised in 06, ie before the crash. Now that the sums don't add up any more there is a real risk that we get a bodged Velopark. Hence this posting.
