Shimano R650s yeah?
Yeah; shimano makes specific ones for 56/6600 and 57/6700 groupset; RS651 are specific to 57/6700 and come in black. Make sure you throw the brake pads in the bin and replace with swisstop ASAP.

Hmmmm, I'd rather not have to buy new brakes. And I'd been meaning to get some 25c 4 seasons anyway. Will 35mm longboards get on okay with 25c tyres? That way I wouldn't have to change my brakes...
-
• #904
Not changing the brake would be the best option IMO; If you have to balance comfort to mudguards to shallow brake ratio.
I dont see why 25c tyres + longboards + shallow brakes wouldnt work ..

In theory, yes.

After a lot of thinking I went for a ribena bottle. Now I have it all covered.
-
• #907
That is awesome.

• #908
Dimi, do you have any more pics of the bike? It looks like a practical disc brake number to me.....
-
• #909
Yeah, the bike is very versatile - it's a CX bike with a lot of other abilities. Now it's in the winter road bike disguise. Sorry for NDS, but you (almost) can see the stays, that I've bent to allow disc brakes.

The clearance on my rear wheel is virtually non-existant, and I'm planning to make the jump to 25 from 23 tires, so that rules out both the Raceblades and the Cruds, are there other options for frames without eyelets for fenders? Looks like those seatpost and downtube clip-on fenders are my only option?
-
• #911
25mm would likely rub on the derailleur clamp.
If you can, get some wider rims on, it make the 23mm feel closer to 25mm in term of comfort and grip.

You're going to need to buy another bike.
I'm hoping this is what you were thinking already and just needed to justify it.
-
• #913
Pretty fond of my Gios and
can'tcouldn't really justify another bike, but I should recieve a cool €1000 of insurance money somewhere soon so that just might be in time for a winter bike. But no solutions for the time being? I messed up the packaging because I overtightened the straps on my bag so I can't return it anymore. I just might use the front fender and use a clip-on for the rear. I'll give it a go. -
• #914
If the product is still in original condition, you should still be able to return it regardless of the package, of course need to check the shop's return policy for more info.
Best to buy a new bike (like the Verenti Defense, Tifosi CK3, Ribble Audax, etc.), only just notice the last two photos, clearance is way too tight!

My rear chromoplastic guard has cracked completely, can anyone recommend a source of a replacement that I could use with the SKS hardware? Could't find SKS doing spares on their own just complete sets.
-
• #916
Bloody annoying, that.^ I think the cheaper sks 'bluemel' comes with hardware separate, but in pairs. And I think they don't come in narrow. All or some of this may be wrong.
Dimi's mudflap is excellent^...^

What width? I might be able to help
-

The SKS hardware is the worst part of them.
Either get a new set or do the Bluemels thing but get Berthoud hardware. -
• #919
I've now gone off SKS, one too many side splash from it, the hardware isn't helping either.
Gonna stick to GB next time.

I've got the 35mm on but wouldn't mind the 45mm if you had one spare.
From reading around I think I set them up with a bit too much tension to keep them clear on 30mm tyres with a lowish brake bridge which seems to have been the problem.
-
• #921
30mm tyres is definitely pushing it with 35mm!

I have just swapped some 45mm SKS for the astonsihingly reasonably priced Kinoko TF Imports hammered mudguards (fitted free during Jan! Means no swearing when cutting stays etc). You can have the old 45mm set if you make a contribution to either a charity or the forum.

That was what I thought with the new ones. Fitting 45mm also means I can run Jack Browns if I want instead of the GB that I now have. Speaking of which, how are your pair?
-
• #923
Haven't run it yet, the original tyres still have some life left in them, won't be long though as the thread is now thin and smooth.

• #924
Do LMNH still have the PDW guards in stock?
-
• #925
Highly doubtful as the distro are all sold out.
I'm hoping to get some for my Charge Plug 1 - and with the 28mm ReFuses that actually measure at 25mm the 30mm PDW's may just fit!
