  • PDW's are sold out everywhere, any alternative commonly available?

Will check with my distro at work tomorrow.

  • If you want, go for it, they'll lighter than your SKS on the Kinoko custom.

  • Aw yiss, motherfucking poncho.

I bought Clara and myself one each of these for Christmas (the Otto ones), they're brilliant. I'm totally converted.

  • ^^ are they the same as the bridgestone posted ^?
Would need to get them powdercoated/painted

  • installed the bluemells on my winter road / cx bike, had to bend the stays a bit, because of the disc brakes, but I'm enjoying the result now. the only thing is the 'guards don't have a mud flap. maybe I should make one out of a plastic bottle or something. what people are using?

  • I've usually cut something out of leather or rubber, seem to have a lot of that lying around...

  • plastic bottle is a good option due to the shape that'll go with the mudguard.

  • SJS raceblade longs- don't fit on my Serotta. Godamnit.

which would you prefer - 7up, fanta, tango, irn bru or white lightning?

  • Can of Red Stripe, it'll sound awesome in the rain.

  • as a matter of fact I only have a 7up and an aloe vera drink one.

think of health & safety - sharp edges and all that...

  • And a brakeless fixed wheel bicycle isn't?

Crud roadracers will surely fit, so long as you are using 23mm tyres.

  • 25's- Veloflex Roubaix tubulars.

Do Crud Roadracers need to fit under the fork crown? As I doubt that they will.

  • And a brakeless fixed wheel bicycle isn't?

    are you dizzy, blud?

  • ^^ They need literally a mm between caliper and tyre... but they'll almost certainly rub with 25s as the width starts becoming an issue. They wrap the tyre very closely, especially bit that clips onto the seattube to keep crud off your front mech.

  • ^^^ they need to go under the fork crown, yes, as there's an O-ring attachment around the stud holding the front brake on. But as miro says, they're very thin and need very little clearance.

  • Has anyone had success fitting mudguards with 28c tyres on normal drop (SRAM force) brakes? I have 28c tyres and there looks to be enough clearance for guards. Would 35mm suffice? Or will I need 45? Calling Edscoble!

  • 35mm will be very tight with 28mm, and I doubt you can fit 45mm mudguard with short drop brakes due to the arm clearance, you might be a bit optimistic.

Either get a 25mm or 23mm tyres/long drop brakes, or change the frame for one with more clearance, like the All-City.

Even with my normal-reach brakes (47-57mm), I can squeeze in 25mm with 'guard.

  • I am running 28mm tyres with 35mm guards but then again I dont face the caliper brake issues ;)

  • ^^ perhaps try long drop brakes before a new frame..... if you want wide guards.

  • 45mm definitely work with long drop (Shimano) brakes.

  • Shimano R650s yeah?
