Stop being a tart and buy breaks and mudguards. Thank me later.

Bell bottoms? Suddenly I really like you raith!

btw Brighton's quite hilly, I'd hate to ride brakless there. Or anywhere except a track.

But what I mean really is on urban SS and Fixies...
No reason why not, it's possible to have a neat looking fixed wheel bicycle with discreet black mudguard on, I'm fairly certain you can get away with it;
Not the best of example, but it work.

Let's all zip tie rubbish to our bikes, woo!
People keep recommending the Crud ones, which I've not used but they seem to get variable feedback. However, the SKS Raceblade Longs are great - as easy to fit as the Raceblades (and as compatible) but virtually full length:
They also seem to have a much more sturdy mounting system than the standard Raceblades (they fix to your quick releases).
Also available in silver.

I just liked the idea that no-one notices the discrete mudguard because their attention is taken by the flap.
I guess the zip ties and extension comes off when the weather improves?

It would work if you're a flap so no one will notice the bike.

note to self: make a bigger flap for most recently acquired bike

I know but you can't beat a ride to Asda along the seafront in a pair of lyrca budgie busters! taking in the views of the hotties on the nudist beach on the way and possibly , (time permitting) slip off the budgie busters and take a cheeky stroll nude along the part of the beach where its's legal, casually slipping the lycra back on as you reach the sign "End of the nudists beach"
continuing the ride to Asda with just a little kiss of sun on your chap! -

I know what you mean but still... I think the only bike that actually looks ok off the shelf with guards is the Kona smoke
Let's all zip tie rubbish to our bikes, woo!
True but whilst the blades do look quality, they to me have Clarksons "whiff of old fart" sorry at least the estate agent board looks a bit cool and Kitsch but obviously crap, I don't know why? are you with me brothers???
The Zip on Crap ones, maybe they should be known as ZOC guards are definitely more "the Kinks" than the "Keane"
the sporty Blades are more Xfactor compared to the Drum and Bass ZOC's!
oh god I'm losing it!!!!

I would get those raceblade longs, but they need a drilled rear brake bridge to attach them. Any handy workaround people can think of?
-
• #494
arse got saturated again tonight! what about this... inflatable mudguards you only have on when its wet! maybe an old mtb inner tube manipulated to protect legs chain and arse using some inner forming like a coathanger
or maybe part of an old mudguard? you just pop it in pump up and off! but it might come out like a mishapen sausage might try it tomorrow -

Would a small P clip or jubilee clip do the job?

Laner, these might also do the job:
Sorry no neat link / pic, am on phone

OM????????G my dragons den future has been dashed to the rocks! but... I was thinking more ghetto innovation style, I am going to give it a go join me in what may be seen as the greatest experiment on attaching junk to a bike the land has ever sen, there is a chance... just a chance this will work... but I don't think so
-
• #499
Sks X3 xtra-dry! Clip on, indestructable, light and really looks wicked! Do it... Cheap on ebay
-
• #500
Ghetto mudguards on the rear really do work for arse only
OK OK I take your point, that's a beautiful bike! ..and the guards look in keeping, but what I mean really is on urban SS and Fixies, coming from track bikes the mudguard just don't look in keeping, so there's a trade off if I lived in Brighton I'd have a Fixed with no brakes, nothing accessory wise, but in Harrow & Wembley it simply isn't feasible and I don't want to turn up to my cake making class with my* bell bottoms *soggy at the bottom and with a wet crack!
