What I've done on my carbon bike is measure the width of the fork legs where the guard sits, then used a dremel to drill two tiny holes either side of the mudguard slightly wider than the the width of fork leg and then cable tied around the legs and through the guard on each side, it works best if the guard is a tight fit for the fork.

Just used the forum-approved A4 sheet of rubber to make front, back, and Scobleflaps. Pop-riveting them on was a bit of a faff - the cheap rivets I had kept breaking prematurely, and I had to put them on the opposite way I'd hoped to, which looks a bit less neat, but happy overall. Weather here tomorrow looks like it might make for a good test ride, so will report back.

Are mud flaps a craft now?
I have installed plenty of mud flaps in my time but prefer to be called a maker.

I believe that term maker is now restricted to anything 3D printed.

Bleach bottle has been mentioned previously

Some backpack artisan needs to start up a company called ruck maker.

@umop3pisdn Is that a standard front one or did you go long for that too?
-

Standard. Do they do a long front? Thought it was just standard or wide.

Is it possible to drill a hole in chromoplastic guards without them breaking? Got some for Mrs jdp's bike last week with nothing on them but I'm wondering now if I can drill them to fit an extra light on her bike.

I've drilled mine for flaps and have not died in any subsequent explosion.
Small holes though - how heavy is the light?
-

I've drilled 3mm holes in mine to fit flaps with pop rivets. It works fine.
But I wouldn't trust them with a substantial horizontal load. -
• #3115
It's the weight of the light which would be the problem, not the holes.

Just to repeat that reiteration one more time.

The holes, of course, weigh nothing.

I have one of these on mine - no problem with drilling or subsequent issue with the light: https://ridepdw.com/products/fenderbot

No idea, was just asking before I bought.

Ahh cool thanks. Mine isn't PDW but exactly that style of light. I haven't fitted the guards yet so maybe I'll see how secure they feel when on.

That looks great, really like white guards

Ta - was going for the 50s clubman look. Sadly they seem to have stopped making them in white; I got this pair second-hand.

Anyone powder-coated ali mudguards? liable to chip / break?
If you're gonna ride that for even a couple days file the ends of the stays, I have scars from them. Esp dangerous with a loaded front!
