  • Does anyone know the wait time on some of those swarf carbon mudguards? Looked on his website and it said they were moving premises and were closing their order book until they'd made the switch.

  • I'd powdercoat stainless ones over Alu, the Alu go brittle after a few years I feel.

  • Mine came powder coated from the factory, they still look essentially new after nearly 2 years of being knocked about. No idea how the finish on these compares to if you took your own guards to a powdercoaters though.

  • Just fitted radials to my Bob Jackson. Installation was pretty straightforward until I got to installing the last grub screw. Somehow this last doesn’t have a groove cut into the outside surface 😬

  • I had 1 dodgy grub. Emailed them and the promptly sent me 3 as a replacement :)

  • Just emailed. Thanks.

In other news I’ve just ordered some Raw flaps, which (although reasonably priced) cost me more than the mudguard themselves.

  • Whats the approved solution for front mudguard on bike with toe overlap? Smashed mine to smithereens doing a 1mph manoeuvre yesterday and wondering what to replace it with.

  • Don't ride slowly

  • I've spent months developing a peaceful commute involving river paths etc, and they involve the occasional slow speed zig zag around obstacles. I can't go back.

    Sponge shoes.

  • that is amazing

The SKS Raceblade sets say they only cover up to 25c. Is this nonsense or should I buy the extra wide ones.

  • Hey Corny

Drop him an email. he responds pretty quickly.

  • Hot.

I think the answer is clear, a new bike.

  • Only 30mm of rake on my forks. That's probably the problem.

  • I was thinking of doing that, but my need for swish mudguards is a ways away, so just doing a bit of digging...

  • I emailed him, he said he is moving workshop so will get back as soon as thats done.

  • I re fitted mine again and like them. Only problem for me is bike related.

Can't work out an efficient easy way to fit them to my trp forks with out bending the stays. Which makes it a ballache should I change tires. Which I do. Switch from 25s to 35s on the regs.

Not helped by losing the bits for my fork.

  • What's the hive mind opinion in radial mudguards? So far is probably the best option i could find to cover a 30-something tire

  • I really like mine, i use the wider ones to cover 28c tyres. Think they'd be alright with slightly wider tyres too

Solid, no rattling and easily installed.

  • Thanks, they're rated to 30c tyres so should work, how long is the front guard?

  • Not bad, they're pretty solid when fitted (the stays seem pretty chunky compared to other guards I've used) but I don't think they're wide enough/deep enough (i.e. the sides don't wrap around the tyre enough). Mine are fitted with 30mm tyres FWIW, wouldn't want to go any wider.

I had some of the plastic guards they used to do, and aside from rattling a bit, they were lighter and offered more coverage. Shame they stopped doing those as they were a cinch to adjust/fit (the stays were thin enough to chop with cable cutters).

  • I assume you mean Raceblade Longs (the regular ones are useless)? I run 25c on mine and I get some rub in the front when out of the saddle. I wouldn't recommend anything bigger, it might fit on the stand, but won't work well IRL.

  • Not a huge amount of coverage, I plan to stick a flap on the front to reduce spray

  • Disappointed, may search elsewhere for longer guards, cheers everyone for the advice
