  • I've got one of those kits that let's you hammer letters into leather.
Freecycle. If you promise to pick up ASAP and not send me too many messages.

  • .

  • Kool. I live just down the road from you.

  • is the Cambium C17 with cutout much better than the one without?

  • Daft question, but does anyone know where that pic of two blokes sitting on a wall with on two steel touring bikes? I thought it was brooks pic but cant find it.
    cheers

  • It was in the brooks bugle.....you're definately right!

  • Anyone have a carved C15 to sell?

  • Riddle me this. According to the Brooks website:

To the eye, the C17 may appear quite racy in its shape and lines, which indeed it is. However the geometry and dimensions are based closely on that of our most recognisable model the B17, ensuring the same timeless comfort mile after mile, a saddle you can really settle into.

So can any of you confirm or deny that switching from a B17 (which I love) to a C17 will be a painless (literally) process?

I'm not actually switching, the C17 will be for a new bike.

  • I can confirm that it felt similar, however you can't change the tension.

There are people who prefer the saddle to be stiffer (even though that's very short lived), and the C17 felt like it's in the middle of not stiff but not flexy.

If you're in London, the TLCW have some C17 for you to try out for a couple weeks.

  • Thanks Ed. Is that the one in Clapham Junction? Great guys in there and I'm happy to give them my business.

While we've got some eyes on this thread, I asked this while ago but does anyone know of a method to un-bend a bent Brooks with some success? It's not kinked/dented, just massively off centre.

  • I would suggest sending it to Brooks. I sent my old professional to them with a broken tension pin, and they also replaced some rivets and set it back straight for not much cash. I would imagine it's a £20 flat fee for any metal / rails repairs - I gather a new hide costs more.

  • Yup near Clapham Junction.

  • Thanks - that's a good idea.

  • Anyone got any tips on how to get a Brooks all slippy again, like when they're new?

  • A small amount of Proofide and a lot of polishing with a soft cloth.

  • So I emailed Brooks about my bent saddle. They were pretty good at diagnosing it from the pics. Turned out not to be bent but the nose shackle(?) had slipped off the frame. I took it into the shop (which happens to be 2 mins from my work) and the guy was very helpful. He thought he might be able to replace the nose bit at a cost of a few quid.

Anyway, turns out in slipping off, the nose bit has nicked the main frame so it'll have to go back to the factory at a cost of £35.

Very impressed by the speed and service.

  • I'm selling a brand new, never been out of the box Ti Swallow in black? ~£230 new, £150 to you lot. Comes with all the clothes and creams and spanners.

  • Yep. That's broken.

  • Cheers for confirming. Glad I hadn't misread the signs.

  • .

  • This one is unsküllied

  • Yep just realised that.

Bit weird that the swallow plate is all buckled, was it resting on the front seat pin bolt?
