  • Thanks!

  • Really enjoying my Cambium. The style of Brooks, without the faff of maintenance, and it's waterproof. I hope they do a Swallow style racey version.

  • That's what I'm hoping the C15 will be. Due out in a few months. They've already asked for testers to try it out. I applied.

  • Really cannot wait for the cut out version, it's nice to sit on a saddle that remain a consistent shape.

  • Got myself a C15. It's perfect!

Here it is compared to the C17

Now I have a C17 Cambium for sale here:

  • I thought those weren't out yet?

  • Came out last month. I'd been waiting.

  • Do the cambium saddles have a rough texture? Could do without white patches on the arse with jeans!

  • No it's pretty smooth. It feels like fabric but is not abrasive. The canvass is moulded into the top face of the rubber. It's really good.

  • has anyone used the b15 swallow? i like the look of it a lot but i did read a blog post about someone who got one and it sagged down to the point of being unridable within a few months i think it was. probably just a defective one.

  • The leather is a lot thinner than the Pro / B17 and can soon sag especially if it gets wet. I have had two for 10 years, they are right at the end of the tension adjustment but mega comfortable

I've had a B15 Swallow (Ti rails) for years. It's done plenty of long rides (200km to 1400km) even out in the rain, not a problem.

Production problems aside, over zealous tightening and over zealous application of proofide are the usual causes of sag and stretch.

If anything did happen to it I'd probably replace it with a C15 (despite the C15 being 35g heavier than the B15Ti). A C15 with Ti rails would be absolutely ideal.

  • This might be a stupid question, but....

I'm shopping for a B17-S Special (the ladies version of the B17 with copper rivets).
It seems the cheapest option for this is the Brompton version.

What's the difference between a regular Brooks and a Brompton Brooks?
Any reason why the Brompton version won't fit a regular seatpost / bike?

    Thanks in advance

  • Difference between regular and Brompton Brooks saddles is possibly stamping on the leather; a Brompton Brooks has regular rails and spacing.

  • sounds good to me, thanks

  • So, I was lucky enough to be chosen as one of the original testers for the Brooks C17 Cambium, a while back. After around 6000 KMs, the top started to stretch around the middle two rivets at the rear. I contacted Brooks, who put me through to Steve in the workshop.....he said that the Cambium top couldn't be bought separately...bugger!
Luckily, he said he can send me a new top FOC and would I like a different colour! Yes please, I said and a new slate top and new rivet bolts arrived yesterday, ready to be fitted when I get a minute. I'm going to frame the old battered one and stick it on the wall :o)

  • Pics of said stretch?

  • It's hard to see in the photos, but most noticeable around the two rear bolts .....you can see it is out of shape there, and pulling a bit.
It's also got a lot more give in it. The new top is so much better, it looks smaller when they are side by side.

  • Thanks for that.

Can I ask how much you weigh?

  • I'm giving up on my Ti Swift after 3 years. It doesn't like chamois cream and it's actually not more comfortable than a standard Fizik which I don't have to worry about rain etc with.

  • Lucky I'm not female..... You saucy mare! :0)

I'm about 88 kgs.... It's had two years of proper abuse though. The canvas near the front rivet has almost worn away.... I still love it, but now it's going to be like triggers broom!
