  • Look like Scott went the same way as I did with the BMW...

Ha...have you been on the Benylin?
What you mean is, looks like Scott went the same way he did with his LAST BMW...which already had hoods on remember.
At least use some up to date shots without the Cinelli stickers and old wheels!

Oh...actually I see your point Ed...I have clearly been biting your style.

  • That is one absolutely stunning stealth machine. I hope you wear only black to ride it. with a ninja mask.

The shroud of the Scoble Side has fallen. Begun, the Beamer War has!

  • Angles on the v2 look fucked up.

    Nice pompino scoble!

  • Just realised scobles bmw looks like an islabike for 9yr olds.
Scott's on the other hand is a huge pile of boss.

  • nice. is that a v1 50?

    scoble's not so much...

  • is that a v1 50?

Yes. No toe overlap for me this time. :]

  • cool i have a little on mine but am not clipless. nice idea with the bars

Werd. It looks like a trick bike thats been ridden into a wall too fast.

It'll be getting a front disc at some point as i intend to use it for long, loaded rides again too, so it will end up with levers anyway.

  • Using the same forks?

I'd have thought they'd be beefy enough to take a mount. Also what discs/leavers?

  • Ideally using these forks yes. Well...until I can afford a wound up CX fork anyway, which is only 5mm shorter. :]
The plan is to use a pair of cane creek V drop levers running through a splitter to an Avid BB7, with a small disc.

  • Looks great Scott - i reckon a set of Paces would look good on there, the wound ups dont have much clearance and will probably alter the geo?

  • Wound-ups are fugly (IMHO). What about winwood?

A cheaper option, although just as fugly. Would be Kinesis.

Trigon do some light ones. Loads of decals though, and if they're like my Trigon XC bars. Those decals are a bit tricky to remove.

  • I think aesthetically the bmw v1's + mount would look the best by a long way.

Also is there going to be much benefit of carbon forks on a gangsta? Especially if you're rocking deepveez?

fwiw the winwood look like the best imo.

I would say carbon forks would be a great idea together with such stiff wheels. The Winwoods win hands down (great brand). Just as expensive and difficult to source 'this side of the pond' as the wound-ups though.

I do like the look of the original v1's though. Match the frame very nicely.

  • The wound ups, along with most cyclocross forks won't affect the geometry as they're all within mm of the 4OOmm length of the BMW fork.
I'm not really a fan of curved forks so it limits my options somewhat. I looked at the kinesis but hate the set back crown.
Pace forks are too wide...I have no intention of running tyres any bigger than cyclocross ones.

If the modified original forks work fine i will most likely stick with them anyway as I'd like to have bottle mounts on again too.

  • As for wound ups being 'Fugly'...it's a Brooklyn...it's never going to be 'pretty'. :]

    This^

You're obviously not going for a weight weenie project here, and nothing else is going to compliment that frame.

I'd go with a postmount fitting on the forks. Better way of mounting the caliper, and cleaner looking when you're brakeless.

  • Post mount may be a bit tricky as the tube profile is very narrow...but we'll see what can be done.

  • Was thinking about carbon fork but worried that it might affect the geometry.

Another option is a Geekhouse fork with disc mount, cost about as much as a decent carbon fork but will suit the bike.

  • Never thought about that. Does'nt look too bad though.

Would'nt be any better than the original though. So I suppose its down to what wielder thinks.

  • I'd take the brooklyn over a geekhouse fork any day. As Smallfurry said, there would be no advantage over the original...and as I already have the original it would be pointless.

  • Just buy a drum brake equipped front wheel.
