I'm loving this weather. Always looking for an excuse to wear the Rapha Softshell.. Getting it on in August is a bonus!
Ha, this is what I was thinking when I was cycling to work this morning, I did however get VERY wet feet, must remember to put my front mudguard back on.

It´s 35 Celsius in Bonn, Germany. To hot for a ride. There is going to be hail and thunderstorms later.

Have you made an oath to only ever say bicycle and never bike, pushbike or velocipede?
-
• #3560
I don't like 'velocipede'. it makes me think about a velociraptor with 100 legs and then I can't get to sleep that evening.

argh - have to cycle from Kew to Camberwell now - and my waterproof jacket's at work :(
have you got a softshell?
was at work :(Fuck waterproofs. all about long sleeve merino jerseys
don't fink so!21 miles in relentless rain. And not nice warm summer rain either. Found one of Prancer's rain jackets in the dungeon (a little too big for me but it did the job), put my Rapha over socks on and kept my head down. By the time I got to my office (where MikeC produced my jacket - thanks!) I was so wet it was pointless changing, my LFGSS cap drooping pitifully.
The blissful hot shower at the end made it almost worth while, a sauna and massage would have been even better.

My Rapha Fixed waterproof jacket is on the back of one of your chairs in the kitchen - should have taken that :-)

that's the the spirit!
personally, i've really ejoyed this summer. alright it hasen't been blazing hot for weeks on end i take that as a positive. despite the typically schitzo localised conditions including what felt like "the driest spring on record" followed almost immediately by "the wettest june on record" followed by "the most averagely changeable but generally pretty pleasant july and august on record".
feels to me like i've been riding in a tee-shirt and going to the pub in flip-flops since about the middle of april. not fricken bad really. felt the first hint of encroaching autumn crispness in the air last night. i know it's still august and hoefully there'll be plenty more balmy late summer evenings to come before things take a turn, but i'm already looking forward to the mornings and evenings being cooler, getting a new winter jacket, busting out some autumn and winter recipes and and getting cozy under the duvet at night. i would hate to live in a town where the weather's the same every day of the year.

It's pissing it down.
I, for one, would like to say that if we start getting snow in the winter (which we are), then we should get a few more blazing hot summer days.

• #3573

felt the first hint of encroaching autumn crispness in the air last night.
I did too, and I got all excited. Had a proper 'lovely autumn ride' flashback - the light was just right, the air felt cool in an odd clammy way that was lovely, it even smelt right. Bring it on.
There are always loads of softshells in TK Maxx from random outdoor brands
