Finland, chainwhip?I came back from visiting my folks in the UK, on the 20th October. To find a good 8" of snow. Which was a bit of a shock to say the least.
My car was at the top of my steep driveway, which is too steep to jack the car up on. So I could'nt swap the tyres out. So the Mrs took the bus. Super hard cycleman (me), mounted the 'nordic spikes' and took the kids to nursery in the trailer (decked out with wool fleece on the seat and a thick blanket on top, plus some lights).
Some people figured it would pass quickly, so had'nt swapped to winter tyres. These could be seen parked by the side of the road, or in lay-bys. The bus companies are always well prepared. So people usually take the bus for a day while they get their cars sorted.
The word 'chaos' doesnt jump to mind.

Sweden dosent do chaos of any sort, ever. full stop.

Worth noting that people do not drive or cycle here, without studded tyres. So I'm not about to put anyone down, over there, for not cycling today.
Did pass a guy on roller ski's last night (we have ice but no snow at the mo), struck me as a weird. Probably cant wait for the snow.

The MetCheck forecast for tomorrow has changed from heavy snow to sunny spells in the last hour. Why do they even bother?
-
• #2539
Are you trying to say in light of new information they should not change their forecast?
Met office are very good on their weather prediction.

^ It was sunny spells yesterday too.
So I hardened up in the end and rode in on 25's - had a few dodgy moments, but once I got to Kilburn it was fine. Quite fun really - rim brakes are utterly pointless in this weather though. Fixed with disc brakes ftw

Just checked my local paper, and our clear, cold spell is ending. Milder weather and snow for me from now on.
Shame, I was loving the mad blue skies, and uber dry air.
Oh and a local man was given a package containing someones wee, by the post office, instead of a 60th birthday present from his brother.

Haha no. I guess I should've rhetorically asked "why do I even bother checking it?"

To be quite honest I reckon the press are baffled that people can't be frigged to vote for the person who is going to rule the country, yet they vote in their million for a rapey looking middle aged bloke with a mullet just because he has a funny accent and can't sing.
