it was snowing epically last night here but today this sums up my feelings:
Shame someone cropped the cartoon too tightly.
Still one of the best cartoons ever.

Calvin and hobbes is THE one for me Oliver. Was given my first book by my dad after he came back from New York when i was 7, and still it never gets old. So beautifully drawn too - especially the snowscapes.

I could barely see at all on the way home tonight, such was the intensity of the snow/steam/drips on my bins... Very refreshing tho'...

I've been off the bike for nearly two weeks due to being ill, and had to get the train today as I've still not shaken off the final the remnants of my congested airways.
Anyway, got a call at 1715 from the other half saying she was stuck at Lewisham and could I try and get home quickly to pick Edie up from the childminders. Get a train from City Thameslink to Herne Hill with no bother at all. Get off to Herne Hill to discover there are no trains whatsoever on the Victoria to Orpington line. Curse.
Try and get a cab but none are available so try and get a bus to Crystal Palace. Two go past without stopping before the third stops and some of us squeeze on. Get off at Crystal Palace to discover no buses heading my way so run the last 2.5 miles to get to the childminders.
I've just been outside and measured 3 inches of snow. How the fuck can the capital of the sixth richest nation on earth grind to a fucking halt because of 3 inches of snow?

Incompetent wankfest?

well, what do you expect from a nation that only recently has discovered double glazed windows?

How's it looking down Peckham/Camberwell way? Riding home in a few hours.
I got too hot earlier wearing overtrousers/jacket/winter hat. -

stuck at Lewisham
I've seen Lewisham bus station look congested when train services to Kent get buggered and all the Canary Wharfers coming off the DLR are stranded but nothing like it was tonight at about 5pm. Hellish.

Not a good idea to post the same message in multiple threads; you might end up getting banned for spamming

Because it's inhabited by shandy-swilling Southern posho wusses.
(I know you won't mind me saying this). -

I awake for work at 0430 get ready and plan to get on my winter ready long haul trucker only to realise I have managed to get two punctures. Having used all my spare tubes I am left with no choice but to ride my comically inappropriate brakeless mash with hed3 front and on conti 23's. Trying to remain positive I remind myself that the roads are normally empty at this time, this bout of positivity is soon withdrawn after two close calls with White van men. The combination of ice, wind, cold and darkness made today's Clapton to hammersmith commute one of the worst experiences I've had in a while. The best thing is that I have to do it all again in about four hours.

Snow has frozen to a hard crust here in Leeds.
Another inch or two fell last night, but nothing worth fussing about too much. It's the cold that got me this morning.
It's about -4, but the steady wind takes it waaaay lower.I took my gloves off and found my knuckles had split from the cold and are weeping blood.

There is a jolly good dusting of snow laying over south London. The roads are half covered in snow and the bits inbetween look like ice. I can see a few MTBs going along the middle of the road very slowly. No snow falling at the moment.

Even the Waterloo and City line was closed yesterday. How the fuck it snows underground I don't know.
I wonder if it might be due to lazy train drivers not bothering to go to work because it looks a little bit cold outside?

I'm a right drama queen... : )
Blathered my hands in this barrier cream stuff that the printers use, I've got a pint of tea and a bacon banjo.
Happy bunny again!

No ice anywhere on A/main roads south of river just a bit wet and drying out in the wind, side roads maybe watch out. OKR quieter than usual and snow has pretty much disappeared from Waterloo on and West End/Bloomsbury is bone dry. Evil headwind is all to watch out for.
