I am so buying waterproof trousers tomorrow.
Also anyone have experience of overshoes? I bought some of those endura neoprene ones, and after 20mins my feet were wet. Surely that's not right?

Waterproof trousers require cycling very slowly to avoid a sweatfest - probably a good idea anyway in those kinds of conditions.
Overshoes need something over them (at the top) to stop water entering at your ankle. I still think neoprene ones work best for warmth, and keep the rain out for a bit, unless they have shitty seams (which can be alleviated to some extent with a bit of silicone grease).
Water seems to get through all of them in the end though.

Even then a sweatfest is to be expected. Rainlegs are pretty good if you are otherwise guarded.

I've just got off the phone with a guy who had a tornado hit his house. This is in the UK. Overturned his caravan, ripped off part of his roof and damaged his car. Blimey.

Low pressure over Scotland, so helium balloons will float really high and tires will feel more solid than usual.

Well, that was an unpleasant experience... Monsoon-like rain from Southwark to Oval with a full backpack and a frame strapped to my bike and two nodders undertaking me and almost taking me out in the process... I shall have my revenge... Thank Bob, the rain let up before it started again on Railton Road... And Bob bless GoreTex®, it is a wondrous and merciful technical material...
