  • The bling ring; well crafted but underwhelming.

    brilliant film

  • Thought Kings of Summer was brilliant, lovely film...

  • World War Z......A M A Z I N G !

  • ^nerged

    not really but wtf?!

  • World War Z......A M A Z I N G !

    That stars Edward, right? ;)

  • Disconnect and The East are great films completely engaging and held my interest for every frame.

Totally different but I absolutely loved Riddick!!

Top actioner!! Its the sequal they should have done last time - it's like what 'Aliens' was to Alien.

  • Totally different but I absolutely loved Riddick!!

    That's riddickulous.

  • Tickets ordered to see The Bounceback, The Great Passage and Blackwood at the BFI London Film Festival.

  • That stars Edward, right? ;)

    ??

  • Saw the Way way back today, really good film, I want to watch it again now which is always a good sign!

  • Came across this wicked film/cine/disc review site... Their writing and insight, let alone their passion for films is unsurpassed in my opinion; an absolute must if your interest in films goes above and beyond Hollywood.

  • World War Z......A M A Z I N G !

Go read the books Yes, books. There's a survival manual which is great fun too. They could have at least had the decency to call it something different. It really has around 0.005% anything to do with the book.

The main problem I had with it are the complete lack of psychological aspects you would feel within a zombie environment.
Replace all those slamming ragdoll zombies with millions of tigers and you have exactly the same effect. The whole point of the book was about the people and the creative ways they overcame their fear and despair, not about some dude who's supposed to be a relatively clever researcher, wasting resources jumping from place to place just to hear a bunch of people yammer on about what they "think" is the cause.
The zombies don't HAVE to be fast to be scary. They're endless, never tire, and with one purpose. Feed. That's enough to be scary.

The book had plenty of action, it just wasn't necessary to speed it up and add explosions to x300 to sear it into the audiences retinas.
Look at 28 days later, story line intercepted with bursts of action that kept you on your toes.

They ruined a good concept and tainted a good book.

  • Pitch Perfect = shit.

Especially when they can't be bothered to put song lyrics on subtitles, meaning I get a load of subtitles saying "pop music playing".

Me too, sort of film I can related to.

  • So this week I've seen

Any day now - brillant film, sad story and alan cummings is great in it.
Aint them bodies saints - It looks nice, the story was relatively decent but I was some what confused by what era they wanted it set in. Seemed like it was a western that was actually in the 60's.
In a world - some lake bell indie nonsense. Didnt hate it but not sure I could watch it again and people in the cinema laugh uncontrollably at parts that werent even that funny was very annoying
And last but not least Rush. Really great story, very well told but I expected nothing less from it. It was exciting! Will watch again.

  • Interesting that you liked Rush. I'm probably going to catch it Tuesday night. It really doesn't seem like 'my thing' but I'm hoping to be proved wrong on that count.

  • Saw the Way way back today, really good film, I want to watch it again now which is always a good sign!

One of my favourite films Ive seen this year i'd say!

  • Recently seen films

Good Vibrations: heart warming looking at Terri Hooley's life. Get the feeling that some of the rougher corners are glossed over but makes for a entertaining view.
Post Mortem: a vignette from the period where Pinochet brutally took over in Chile following someone working in a mortuary. You get a window for how brutal the regime was. Worth a view although no suprirse that it's not particularly uplifting affair.
Yellow Sea: Korean thriller that is another not so light hearted affair. Strong material.

  • "Vignette"

    Eugh
