  • Fucking Virgin blocked access to KickAss, can anyone recommend a source for decent movies. Think I've watched all decent ones on Tube+.

    Ah, that makes sense...

Signed up to Netflix yesterday, really good... OD-ing on Korean and Chinese historical action dramas ATM...

I need to watch The Gospel According to St Matthew again, my first gf's dad introduced me to it as a teen and I loved it...

    #notaeuph

  • Did Jimmy Saville direct this movie or something?

    1, 5, 3 2 and 5 again......

is the order they would completely ignore me in.....

  • have read all the reviews of that^^
every time come back with same conclusion-
it will be shit, just watch porn instead save time.

  • saw What Richard Did last night. can't recommend.

recent films i can include Alps, Amour and Chinatown (old film but only saw it for the first time last weekend)

  • Ed, The Hunt was really well done, but not fun viewing.

did you really find it that uncomfortable DJ? average film, the drinking and singing scenes should have lasted a lot longer

  • the drinking and singing scenes should have lasted a lot longer

this is true of all films

  • watching Wreck it Ralph.
    its mildy amusing

  • Just watched Movie 43. Stupid but well funny.

  • Just watched 'Sound Of My Voice'. Bit of a cult flick...

  • Detachment. Great movie.

  • Spring breakers was ok, if it wasnt for the relatively banging soundtrack it would have fell on its arse imo. There was too much dialogue cut with other footage, which after a while got annoying but the standout part was james franco singing britney spears!

    3 out of 5

  • Watched Limitless last night, was pretty good fun, wouldn't mind a go on the clear pills!

  • ^Brilliant, I particularly like the testimonials section: "Due to claims being investigated by the FDA this page is currently unavailable."

  • Quicksilver (Kevin bacon as a bike messenger) is on at 9pm tonight on movie mix for those that have freeview

  • ^ wonderfully cheesy!! Hilarious.

  • Watched 'Oblivion' last night, was expecting it to be good, after all it is from the same people behind Tron. As it turns out it is really good. You don't have to be a Sci-Fi fan to like this. Plus the soundtrack is also really good.

  • another earth..

    OK.. A bit Dogma style..

I liked the way it simultaneously dealt with duality in numerous ways (her vs her if it hadn't happened, her vs him (shared experience), her vs duplicate Earth her (same for him), sibling expectations/achievements, blah blah blah. The somber tone of it was well done, interesting music, good performances. They threw a lot of stuff in the duality cup; or cups, I suppose.

  • Anyone see Place beyond the pines?

  • Yup. Saw it on Saturday...

I thought it was good. Really well shot / directed with a good cast & story. It got a tiny bit slow in the middle but ended really well.

Couple of nice plot surprises as well (and a couple that were quite obvious...).

    Overall: 7.5/10

  • Has anyone else seen Danny Boyle's new film 'Trance' yet?

It's a bit of a strange one where sometimes you're not quite sure whether the scene that's being portrayed is in the present, a memory or when James McEvoy's character is in a trance. Although it was a bit 'Memento' as the character has a form of amnesia and the story is sort-of played out in reverse, I really enjoyed it even if it wasn't particularly original.

  • Oh and Rosario Dawson gets nekkid

  • I didnt like Trance, the story had potential but Danny Boyle made a right old pigs ear of it. Highlight was as said Rosario get naked.

Place beyond the pines, I felt was amazing up until about 40/50 mins in. Then it was like starting all over again. Shot wise, I thought it was good but not as good as shame. Sean Bobbitt was the DP on both so kinda expected it to be slightly better.

As you said tho the story was pretty decent, and has some obvious and some not so obvious twist. I loved him using the same shot at the start and end! Crackin

  • Watched 'Oblivion' last night, was expecting it to be good, after all it is from the same people behind Tron. As it turns out it is really good. You don't have to be a Sci-Fi fan to like this. Plus the soundtrack is also really good.

I was hoping to enjoy it, but it was really not my thing (and I love dystopias in film. Fuck, even Waterworld!). Seemed to be trying too hard to be a bit of everything. Some matrix, some 2001, some of the Island, and probably other stuff not coming to mind. And, as my gf pointed out, the sound track was doing the work the film itself wasn't at times. Glad you enjoyed it though.
