Oblivion: nearly everything i feared would be wrong with it was wrong with it*, but i really enjoyed it anyway. Gorgeous visual design, really strong soundtrack, simple but strong basic premise well executed.
The TRON aesthetic worked far better mixed up with real landscapes. The drones reminded me a bit of the guardians of Kadesh from Homeworld. Andrea Riseborough really shone.
(*Tom Cruise far too full of himself, Morgan Freeman drafted in for easy gravitas and credibility. A mixture of technological strengths and weaknesses that just don't add up. Lots of infodumps. A simplistic & clichéd luddite/nostalgic moral message.)

I thought it was empty and aimless.

You've got to stop confusing your life with the films you watch.

Watched 'Oblivion' last night, was expecting it to be good, after all it is from the same people behind Tron. As it turns out it is really good. You don't have to be a Sci-Fi fan to like this. Plus the soundtrack is also really good.
Loved this. Really paired-down post-apocalyptia, with hints of Sunshine, Moon and the Fallout games. Cruise played his part well, although I think Anybloke could have done a decent job, Sam Rockwell comes to mind.
Set design was superb, and the M83 soundtrack stands up as a piece in it's own right.
8.3/10

Andrea Ris...thingy, was great too, good accent, better than her Brighton Rock effort anyway

Just seen The Machinist. Christian Bale as haunted. Emaciated sleep-deprived ... for real. A transcendent ethereal nightmare of a film. Twisty with silver nitrate glow and Christan Bale giving and losing it all.

Going to see Olympus has Fallen.
Sunday popcornfest, can't imagine it will be anything other than shit being blown up -

^ Shit getting blown up is right. Plus lots of stabbing in the head, it felt very CoD for some reason.

Glad to hear that, going to the cinema on Monday to watch it.

Bradshaw from the Grauniad has given Iron Man 3 four stars. Shane Black direction, really looking forward to it now. "Quality Friday night entertainment" apparently.

Enjoyed the first two thoroughly, one of the better comic book flicks

Ironman 3 is awesome - even better than the previous two movies. A really good action story, coupled with some strong acting. Shane Black has done a really good job bringing this together.
RDJ best Ironman performance yet. Guy Pierce lives up to expectation, Don Cheadle a little under utilised perhaps. Ben Kingsley steals the show - but not like how you imagine. Plus anything with Rebecca Hall in it is great anyway.

^ Totally agree. Saw this last night (in 3D apparently, can't say I noticed). Kingsley was great, although may upset some die-hard comic Iron Man comic fans.
Just gotta say, the PeckhamPlex is EXACTLY how a cinema should be. There was loads of cheering, screaming and laughing. To see a scary movie there would be great. There was one (presumably) woman who screamed like a goat during the odd 'scary' bit.

Just seen it, the start remind me strikingly of the beginning of Fallout (black and white faux-film gritty shot), liked it, a bit too much melodramatic involved and the ending isn't that great.
Worth watching, the bonus of being deaf is that there's only two people in the room.
Caught Place Beyond the Pines a couple of nights ago. Not quite what I was expecting given it's episodic construction. Good but not great although loved Ray Liotta in it
