  • Anyone seen Cockneys vs Zombies? I'm sure it wasn't meant to be the most racist allegory ever committed to film but if you wanted to see it that way it would not be difficult.

I don't care this this will be awful, I will be watching it.

  • are they still worried about the red menace?

  • Just watched Killer Joe, great movie... Fucking crazy, but great...

zombies get stereotyped rather harshly in most films though don't they?

  • Just seen CashBack, I like the concept of these films, like American Beauty where everyday banality vs beauty is the theme.
In general the film does a good job of avoiding being a cliche which I think is mainly down to it being British with the understated narration throughout.
May have just been me, but felt the end could have been a little less conventional or even predictable, also a suspicion that its portrayal is slightly misogynistic,
even if it does reflect reality. Defiantly worth a watch nonetheless.
    (For a 15 these's a surprising amount of nudity)

  • Looks cool. Also I worked for Sainsbury's briefly at uni, so I've worn those uniforms.

  • This thread has made up my mind. Today I will be watching Holy Motors.

And I've shopped there, so I've even looked down on people like you.

  • So, I watched Holy Motors. Wow! I haven't really fully digested it yet but it was pretty incredible.

I'm not gonna lie - I have a lot of unanswered questions.

That's fine. I was permanently hungover anyway.

  • Just sat down and watched Drive finally. Wow. Straight in to my top 10 of films. That film really was a treat for the eyes.

  • Maybe top ten music videos.

  • Went to watch Skyfall last night. The best bit was when he drove through New Cross in the DB5. Even though he was meant to be going to Scotland. The OKR is more than a match for any Bond car.

I watched it for the first time the other week, and concur. Brilliant in a few ways.

I actually found Mark Kermode's brief review of it pretty enlightening. It doesn't go into much detail but he touches a little on interpreting the history of cinema, Kylie looking like Jean Seberg and Carax's own motivations. Gave me food for thought.

  • That's interesting. I'll have to watch some of the older stuff and come back to it, I enjoyed it a lot but I do like to get a better grasp of it.

Oh and Simon Mayo is fucking annoying

  • Maybe top ten music videos.

Repped. Do you know it was based on a book? WTF?
