Yup. I'm not massively squeamish or anything, but combined with the darkness of the themes, it caught me a bit by surprise. There are some fantastic performances (Ellen Page is tremendous), and the fast-paced, low-budget filming feeds into the pace and energy of the film in a positive way. Good soundtrack too.
If you want more of Ellen Page being tremendous, Mouth to Mouth is good: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0383518/

emile hirsch wearing cadence cap in the movie savages
I spotted that too. Shame about the rubbish film though. Who cast Selma Hayek? WTF was going on with her character?

Watched Yellow Submarine last night for the first time since uni after reading this article: http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2012/nov/19/beatles-yellow-submarine-simpsons-shrek?INTCMP=SRCH
Fuck it's a bit weird. Awesome though.

Why would anyone watch a film with Salma Hayek in and actually expect any acting?

There was something on Film 4 the other night with her in and it was utterly dreadful. She constantly had her cans unconcealed, it was desperate (and, I have to admit, slightly titillating).
EDIT: After The Sunset is what it was called. Don't bother.

Talk about six degrees of Kevin Bacon.
There can't be anyone left on earth who hasn't seen her lills.

I watched Cosmopolis over the weekend too. I had to do it in two sittings and nearly fell asleep both times. It was pretty tedious, shame as it had potential.
I saw it at the cinema, last 15mins. And I never leave a film but that was awful!
Coronberg ego trip

Savages, overly long and completely shit, even Blake Lively couldnt save it and i'm not talking about her acting either.

Saw 'End of Watch' yesterday - not as good as 'Street Kings' Ayer's previous movie - but still pretty good.

I saw The Master last night. The reviews I'd read and my friends agreed that it's absolutely first rate so I was really looking forward to it, but I thought it was bollocks I'm afraid. Pointless and pseudish with cliched characters disguised by overwrought, stylised nonsense.
Phoenix and Hoffman are amazing in it however, even though the former plays it as if Johnny Cash had never come off dope and Hoffman is his usual cynical, vain, sociopath.
Be interested to hear what others think.

Fucking love Amour at the Ritzy if it wasn't for the fucking annoying techno music pumping out I think behind the screen.

watched this tonight, very enjoyable.
I also rewatched Prometheus the other day, doesn't make much sense the second time round sadly. Still looks fantastic though.

Agreed - pish
Phoenix isn't amazing - he phones in a 3rd rate Brando impression which left me so infuriated trying to decipher his mumbling, jowelly nonsense, I wanted to shout out loud 'he's a fucking nob'

Same here, I liked it too.
I think it would have been much cheaper if this Bobcat Goldthwait guy had instead just written a blog about all the people he thinks deserves to die as the movie is just a glorified crap blog rant. The people he despises wont ever see this film anyway as they'll be watching the latest Adam Sandler/Eddie Murphy film.

I enjoyed it.. But kind of agree with you.. Anderson yet again returns to achingly beautifully shot and lit (Some were scenes were breathtaking IMHO), achingly beautifully acted tale of redemption motif by two very different yet deeply connected characters.
It lingered with me for a while after leaving the cinema.. Enjoyably so..

Booked tickets to see the new 4K cut of Lean's Lawrence of Arabia. Never seen it on the big screen and cannot wait to be immersed in it

I quite enjoyed Killer Joe
Pretty embarrassing I hadn't seen it considering it's Paddy Considine's directorial debut.
When Olivia Colman says "Will you help me?" with her puffy face, it got me.
