To anyone who've seen 'The Hunger Games', is it like a teeny bopper version of 'Battle Royale?
Battle Royale never got an offical theatrical release in USA or a DVD until last week when a Blu-Ray was released, probabaly to capitalise on Hunger Games completely ripping it off.

How long before we need to prepare for the barrage of, "OMG Battle Royale was a rip of Hunger Games!!!??111!!?" exclamations?

Where do I sign up for that? Can I start a list?
My friend was actually at the party where Billie Piper gained the moniker 'Chazbaps'
French movie- Brotherhood of the wolf. Wicked but avoid the dubbed version

Finally watched The Artist last night. Good, but I think all the hype has dulled it a little for me. I did enjoy that it was filmed in 4:3 though.
I get what you mean, I think I watched it at the right time. Pre-oscars and I didn't know much about it before, in fact I was under the impression only the first twenty minutes was silent. So I was waiting for them all to magically start speaking. By the end I was glad they didn't speak.
Really looking for to the new Aardman film Pirates. Can't wait.
I must admit I am too
Me too. Keeping Hugh Grant employed is a worry though.
Me too. Grant has to do something, hookers don't pay for themselves.
So I went and saw 'The Hunger Games' last night, actually I was a little disappointed after it was hyped so much. By that I mean it was good, just that I was expecting more. I haven't read the book so I can't say how accurate it is. It is clear where the next one in the series is going, it does have that 'Twilight-teeny' feel to it. It took me a while to recognise Elizabeth Banks in that outfit.

Yeah I suspect there are going to be a few of those posts. For a 12A rated film though it should be obvious it ain't no 'Battle Royale' clone.

I have never heard that term till now. Just googled it and urban dictionary's definition was the top hit.

+1 to Brotherhood of the Wolf. Most of the french films I would suggest have already been mentioned. Except for another Jeunet and Tautou collab - 'A Very Long Engagement' which I quite liked. Can't say how good it is for learning french.

I see they're making a 'twins' sequel, it appears 2012 will be the year of the franchises

Meh.Also learnt of the Robocop re-make last night. When will Hollywood ever learn to leave well enough alone?

Hollywood doesn't work that way. If something's successful, it will get sequels, or get remade, or have spin-offs, or copycat movies, or a TV series, or get exploited in some other way. This is in part due to the great lack of good quality original material and due to the fact that since the stupid bullshit that sells the most is usually extremely simple and unoriginal and so copying it again and again, with slight variations, works time and time again.

Will he dance? -
• #5672
Great film! Walken is only in a couple of scenes nothing special. Easily one of my favourite Denzel movies. The odd thing it is actually a re-make!

denzil's pretty good as a "dark" charactor
*not being racist

I quite liked it too. I hadn't realised at the time but Diablo Cody wrote it, and the same team behind 'Juno' made it. It is refreshing to see big hollywood actor do these not so mainstream movies.

have to watch
I think it's the promise of scientists that draws me to the film. That and animation, gave that spotter an animation, spotters love animation.
