watched "killer elite". quite entertaining, is set in the 80s and feels a bit like those lazily executed
action flicks from that time. 6/10 -

I just ordered 2 companion films TheHut.com. They are Sex and Fury, and Female Yakuza Tale. They're Japanese from 1973, and from the Pinky Violence collection. The second film has arrived first, so I'll have to wait till the other arrives, so I can watch them, in order. Its been a while since I've looked forward to films so much.
Finally getting round to commenting on these films.
I loved them. Neither one is excellent, but they are very entertaining, and it is very clear to see where Quintin Tarantino got some of his inspiration for the Kill Bill movies. Some scenes are copied almost directly from these films to his. Clearly he liked these particular movies also.
And yes, it is a bit soft-porn like, but not so bad because of it. Recommended, especially if viewing with friends, and the alcohol is flowing.

Nooooooooooooo!
Fucking awful idea. And have they forgotten the terrible "millennium" Doctor Who film? Yeah that really worked well.

Reading all the anti-Frank Miller stuff has reminded me how mind-bendingly shite The Spirit was. Genuinely wish I could scratch the memory of it out of my brain.

I went to see TinTin today, as a film-goer and animation fan I enjoyed it, quite an enjoyable romp. As a TinTin fan its was a piss poor story, maybe 10% of the orignal book. They've tried to keep the fans happy by making loads of references to the books (e.g. 'The Crab with the Golden Claws', even 'Explorers on the Moon' at one point) but that wasn't good enough for me, the orignal books are good enough they didn't need to be mashed together like that.

also i saw it in 2D, that was enough. 3D would have been a waste of time.

Watched 'DIG!' last night, brought back memories of them 90's. Was a 7/10 for me, I think it captures the narcissistic nature of 'lead' singers and the luck/'hard luck' of the music industry driven by marketing and cash.

'Fire in Babylon' - what a great film! Totally recommend it, and cricket normally bores me to tears.

^Yeah it is such a brilliant film. Amazing sound track as well.
Watched Wuthering Heights last night. I really enjoyed it, and thought it did a good job of showing the naturalisitic nature of the film. Not much dialogue, no soundtrack other than natural sounds and some beautiful shots. It was this or the Rum Diaries, I'm glad I choose this.

I saw Wuthering Heights on Monday evening. I have to say it bored me. I really wanted to like it, it was shot beautifully and I liked the gusty moors sounds in place of dialogue, but it just didn't do it for me. As soon as Heathcliffe and Catherine grew up I lost interest, especially as older Catherine was 'her out of skins'.

Ah great! Bought this at the weekend as one of my young lady's Christmas presents as she's Jamaican and a big cricket fan. She had been talking about buying it but I think I managed to put her off by telling her all the reviews said it was rubbish ;)
Am currently watch La Horde, French zombie mayhem, it's le fucking ace!

Wasn't enough cricket in Fire in Babylon. Could have done with just playing through a few overs here and there. I liked it but it was basically an extended doc for lunchtime during the test

Gradually been working my way through this thread from the beginning watching the majority of films which trailers haven't put me off.
I've just seen Brick, which was surprisingly *un*forgettable, I feel the conviction to talk about it.
Overall I found the dialog abrupt and honestly quite hard to understand at times but the pace of the film made up for any confusion I had.
I felt like as the story progressed I only felt more compassion for the characters which has probably contributed to the positive effect it's left me with.If you haven't seen 'Brick', give it a watch. I'm not saying you'll like it, but I enjoyed it.
Edit: Couldn't see what all the fuss was about with Oldboy.

Saw it. He looked exceptionally uncomfortable in that whole scene. Very much holding it in or at least tensing as hard as he could.
Fun popcorn flick though.
Emma Stone is always a winner. Easy A / Zombieland etc - she's a good 'un.
