  • 'true grit' the Coen brothers one

  • I saw Tinker, Tailor.... the other night and I did quite enjoy it. It was quite confusing and needed full concentration the whole way through.
Visually I loved it but came out thinking I would have preferred it had it been on TV.

It would have been amazing as a two part drama on itv or c4 perhaps.

  • I'm looking for two movies. I'm thinking comedy, action, maybe horror, maybe sci-fi. Nothing to cerebral but nothing dumbed-down either.

'To Be or Not to Be' by Ernst Lubitsch (don't get the Mel Brooks 'version')--one of the best comedies ever.

'One, Two, Three' by Billy Wilder, if you haven't seen it (then again, it's one to see plenty of times)--to my mind, his best film and, of course, a comedy.

I wouldn't expect the former to be in the average DVD rental place, but you could always be surprised.

  • for a bit of contrast to that^^
what about 'premium rush' premium fixieskidder movie?

  • Right, I'm in a movie fix.

I've got a mate coming over on Saturday night.

It's going to beer, snacks, ribs and wings.

My mate is a movie fan but he's not above any sort of movie i.e he's not an arthouse type snob.

It turns out Mrs Lucifer will be there too, so I don't want anyone getting raped by a strimmer on screen.

    Suggestions?

    predator 1 and sideways

It has to be Withnail and I, really. Always worth a revisit..

  • Some good suggestions there!

I've placed my order, because I want it to arrive before Saturday,

I've gone for True Grit (Cheers Jason!) Submarine and a film called Curio that caught my eye.

Me and my mate have watched Predator umpteen times - good choice, j.v.! Sideways is a film incredibly close to my heart and I only watch it alone. Odd, I know, bu there you go.

As for your choices, Oliver, they sound great for a Sunday afternoon with the missus. I'll order them though! Ta!

Very good call! I've got it on Sky+!

  • sex and the city boxset. every time one of them does something wacky and outrageous you touch each other on the knee. take it from there.

It was done in 1979 by the BBC (6 part) and was brilliant, as was the sequel Smiley's People.

Just realised what you typed, I T fucking V ?

  • OH! Wait!

    SEXY BEAST

    this

  • GL, - Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a sure fire winner. Funny, action, romance, hot girl, intelligent plot, great acting and casting. Never met anyone (male & female) who hasn't loved it.

    SEXY BEAST

    This was alright.

    +1 I like that film!

  • Attack the Block. like Idiocracy meets Critters. has some good moments
but ultimately just a bit sad. 6.5/10

  • Sad? I thought it was brilliant! Not groundbreaking, but considering the limited budget, and all the first time actors, a fine example of it's genre. Loved the effects too. Save money on cgi, get guys in suits to run around doing parkour, looks way better.

  • Just watched it too. Mediocre

    Basically Home Alone for tweens

  • just watched 'eastern promises' not bad but not what i'd call riveting viewing 6.5/7 out of 10

  • sat through 'flags of our fathers' last night - i do love a good war movie and this had interesting story to go along with it, veered a bit close to mawkish sentimentality at times with some 'big american feelings' nonsense. looking forward to the companion piece tonight.

  • I found letters from iwo jima to be very moving personally

  • just watched Drive. awesome film. like an episode from GTA with better acting.

I enjoyed it too. The Russian Uncle guy is v funny too.

  • I am not too keen on cronenberg casting random nationalities to play the russians with fake accents.
Freud looks to go the same direction.
