  • Watched 5 episodes of Game of Thrones last night. Didn't really get into it. It had the nudity thing like Spartacus but it didn't really work imo.

  • heard about this?

off to see 'the great white silence' tommorrow, should be qualidy

  • Watched 'The Fighter' last night. Christian Bale was excellent, as per usual. Mark Wahlberg was a bit stale, as per usual. Well written, well filmed and the fighting was really well choreographed. Well.

Anyway, I quite like 'end of the world' and 'post-apocalyptic' kind of movies. There are a couple here which I'm going to start working through, but can anyone suggest any more?

  • Ive heard about one that mentions 'offf world colonies' but cant quite remember the title

  • No seriously. Any suggestions?

What film were you referring to anyway?

  • starship troopers

Really liked that too. For once Wahlberg was good, though he kinda played himself-ish? Felt like a role that was similar to himself

  • yup, christian bale was great in that, thought it was a good movie

  • Talking of Bale, watched 3.10 to Yuma last night. Good classic western. Still want to watch the original.

  • Silly, but very charming. And reaffirmed my desire to marry Emily Blunt.

    +1

    My sentiments exactly.

  • watched The Way Back and London Boulevard over the weekend.

I've never seen two so utterly dull movies in a while. The Way Back had a great possibility to be a fantastic adventure movie, it wasn't. London Boulevard could be a great London gangster movie, it wasn't.

    waste of time

Colin Farrell is in both of those, a coincidence or do you secretly have a thing for him?

  • Watched Source Code last night. I am disappoint. I like Jake Gyllenhaal a whole bunch and think Duncan Jones is a huge talent - but I couldn't help but thinking that the main 'twist' and conceit of the film (I won't spoil it here) was just way over the top. It felt watered-down, derivative and just generally a bit naff. And the awkward, faux emotive bullet-time-esque dolly near the end just added to my indignation as the credits rolled.

  • It was probably incredible. I'm just in misery guts mode.

  • saw it on the big screen. Really liked the acting and generally watching it, the script though... less so

  • Colin Farrell is in both of those, a coincidence or do you secretly have a thing for him?

    sheer coincidence

Really liked him in Tigerland, but it's been downhill since then

  • I've seen no films recently, but on-topic;

1 Christian Bale is really very good.

2 Emily Blunt is bite-the-back-of-your-hand sexy.

    3 End.

  • Really hated 'Source Code', on all counts. Sorry. Saw 'Limitless' (a screener) the day after, and found it more entertaining, as far as supposedly twisty/mind-bending conceits go.

  • I'm going to watch "The Losers" tonight.... wish me luck...

  • just started watching the road, trailer looked good so i'm giving it a shot

  • Watched Un Prophète and To live and die in L.A this week. I thought they both were amazing. To live and die in L.A had me sat bolt upright in bed at one point, brilliant.

I really like William Petersen, has he done anything else notable apart from Manhunter?

I loved it, felt very down afterwards though.

Yeah Source Code was bad, Limitless was actually enjoyable.

Unfortunately not, see my earlier comment about this movie #2809

    exactly my sentiments

  • Spotter I hope you didn't slash your wrists after watching 'The Road'. Great film, but a little on the grey side.

  • Just finished The Losers.

Better than The Expendables. Slicker, more fun, sillier - yet still gave the audience some credit.

Understand this is absolute tosh, but thoroughly entertaining tosh.
