The Road was alright. Watched it ages ago. As Mac said, you do feel a bit down afterwards.

I watched "London Boulevard" with my brother at the cinema and he found it enormously entertaining. I thought it was yet another demonstration of just how bad Twice Knightly could be. David Thewlis was very good and Raymondo Winstone showed us how sinister the London Underworld is. Colin Farrell was an utter joke. His accent was only marginally better than that of Dick Van Dyke's in Mary Poppins.
"The Fighter" was a truly superb film. Wahlberg's performance gave him the credibility he deserves and Christian Bale underlined why Hollywood takes him seriously. A great film.

Spotter I hope you didn't slash your wrists after watching 'The Road'. Great film, but a little on the grey side.
The end wasn't as grim as I thought it was going to be tbh, but still made me very glum. I really liked how subtle the special effects were, didn't leave me feeling like I was missing out at all.

I didn't like the ending. Convenient [censored] bullshit. I'd rather have seen him eaten.

On the other hand I am holding a cinema night tonight at my house in Old Street if anyone is around? Screening The Good The Bad and The Wierd (amazing film) on mine and Photoben's super big projector.
£5 gets you a comfy seat and all the popcorn you can eat and all money goes to charity.
Pm me if you want to come along -

Regarding 'The Road', if you want another take on father-son relationships in bleak landscapes (with a moment that *literally** took my breath away), this is much better:
*I mean literally. [/hate contemporary misuse of this word]

Watched 5 episodes of Game of Thrones last night. Didn't really get into it. It had the nudity thing like Spartacus but it didn't really work imo.
Im loving it, hbo programmes usually take a while to get into. Its easily my favourite programme at the moment.

I was stuck in Amsterdam yesterday as my flight was cancelled, so found this dead little old cinema and killed some time with Pirates of the Caribbean and it was quite enjoyable actually - and Penelope Cruz looks luvverly

That would be low down on my list of "how to kill time in Amsterdam?".

BMMF do you want to delete that comment, just in case someone hasn't seen it, that would be annoying.
Watched Dan in real life, on iPlayer yesterday, was annoyed Emily Blunt isn't in it much, pretty alright film, if a little whet. Going to watch the wave tonight, it's supposed to be pretty decent.

I've seen no films recently, but on-topic;
1 Christian Bale is really very good.
2 Emily Blunt is bite-the-back-of-your-hand sexy.
3 End.
I agree with all three points as made above ^

^ 4 every video rental joint in the late 80s/early 90s had at least one wall dedicated to the collected works of Rutger Hauer on VHS (betamax in some more rural areas).
/what was he in again?
