Last night I was subjected to just under two hours of utterly nonsensical clap-trap and possibly the least entertaining of all the Marvel films of recent times. Thor was not only badly acted, it was badly directed (stick to Shakespeare, Branagh) and I really have to wonder why Oscar winners like Natalie Portman and Sir Anthony Hopkins would really bother with such utter shite.
The pouting gingery-blonde actor in the title role was more wooden than Epping Forest and had all the acting capability of an Eastenders extra.
That's two hours of my life I'll never get back - fuck you very much.

Not really, but the standard of Marvel's productions have improved over time. Iron Man was at least entertaining. This made no sense at all.

Yeah, but you just saw it because of Thor's hammer.

I agree about Iron Man..

Pretty obvious why Hopkins would sign-up to a blockbuster that won't stretch his skills.

Watched Etre et Avoir last week. Utterly absorbing.
oh that reminds me - I've always meant to watch that and kind of forgot about it.
same producer as Wild Side, a film that's stayed with me from seeing it at LFF in 2004. bought it on DVD a couple of years ago, was disappointed with the final cut, it's more abstract and less human. maybe that's the point I don't know. -

I watched Man bites Dog last night, thought it was brilliant.

It truly is. Keep meaning to get the extended DVD.
Best films this year - Submarine/Hanna
Worst films this year - Limitless/ThorI agree with you mostly, but I liked Thor - you have to keep the endgame in mind. Avengers is going to be amazing. Or at least I hope it is.
Branagh did not repeat Ang Lee's mistakes with the Hulk, (I liked the Hulk) and didn't try to add some hidden meaning to it all and distorting the original story. Thor pretty much played out to the comics, the script had the right mix, and didn't take it self too seriously. None of the actors are going to get oscars for their performances, but not their worst by any means (Portman in AotC).
Captain America is up next, gonna keep my fingers crossed.

Have you got shit in your eyes?
Thoroughly deserving of the Oscar this year. She did make a terrible film with Demi Moores shag-piece and Thor was a shocker, but a good actress nonetheless.

i thought she was ok in black swan, the script was so good you could stuck some trog from hollyoaks in it and you would still have a good film

She's shit..

She was awesome in Garden State but she was shit in Thor. The market has become so over saturated with her at the moment - do you know she has just done a rom com with Aston Kutcher - need I say more....
saw submarine tonight, i quite enjoyed it. I had no idea so much of it had been filmed at the school 2 minutes away from my house.
